EXPERIENCE More

Have you read the previous two articles and/or listened to the previous two podcasts for this weeks' series? IF NOT, TAKE THE TIME TO DO IT NOW (and go ahead and listen to the podcast for today while there) so that you can get the full impact of today's article.

In this series I have challenged and encouraged you to HEAR more (by talking less) and to SEE more of the world that is around you each day. Today I will discuss briefly what the result of doing these things will be.

You will begin to EXPERIENCE LIFE more!

Don't we all really want that for our lives?

Listen, as we get older it does seem as if time goes by faster and faster! We cannot do ANYTHING to actually slow time down, but we CAN do something about how we EXPERIENCE each day of our life.

By HEARING more and speaking less and by SEEING more, we will discover and enjoy a world that we may never even knew existed before. We may find that the world is a much happier and promising place when we begin to hear and see the lives of those that are around us as each day goes by.

Do you want to do more than just "go through" life?  Do you wan to truly EXPERIENCE life?

Then friend, make the effort to follow the challenges that I have put before you in this series and see what happens. I think you'll be glad that you did.

I am excited for you as you discover a whole new world that is around you by doing these simple things.

Until next time, be sure to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

In my last article about the late Stuart Scott, I mentioned (once again) the need to "get your head out of your phone" and pay more attention to what is going on around you in your world.

This is something that I could literally talk about every day and it would be needed. After listening to the podcast that went along with that last article I mentioned, my wife mentioned how people don't even make eye contact when she is at the store. For the most part, we have become a society of individuals...we all live in our own little worlds and cocoons and we don't really want to reach out to or be touched by those that are around us every day.

What a sad way to go through life.

I chose the words "go through" on purpose because you cannot say that this is a way to "live" life, can you?

Going along with the idea from the last article on "HEAR More", I want to encourage (and challenge) you to SEE more as you go through each day.

As I've said before, life is passing us by each and every day. We can either be a part of it and get as much out of each day as is possible or we can continue to keep our heads in the sand and miss out on so many wonderful things that take place around us...right under our noses.

Be sure to listen to the very short podcast on today's topic (only around 2.5 minutes long) by clicking on one of the podcast links below and take on the challenge of "opening your eyes" and SEEING more as you go through your day.

And, as you do so, be sure to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

H.O.P.E. Enjoy)

(Please be sure to read the previous three articles in this series if you've not done so).

Well, here we are. In the United States, today is being celebrated as "Thanksgiving Day" and I hope you are with family and friends having a great time.

To close out this special "Thanksgiving Week" series, I wanted to encourage you to ENJOY life and all that it has to offer.

If you will consider and put into action the things that we have discussed in the past few articles then, by investing and opening yourself up to others, you will begin to enjoy life on a whole new level.

We all need to stop "stressing out" over everyone doing everything right all of the time or doing it the way WE want it done all of the time. (Yes, I know there are times that it is important.)

People are not perfect. YOU are not perfect! My guess is that, you want people to practice patience and forgiveness with you, right? Then, learn to practice and offer that same patience and forgiveness with those around you.

"Do to others as you would have them do to you." (Luke 6:31; The Bible)

So, friend, open up your heart to life and to others and live out your purpose in life...OTHERS! And, as you do so, ENJOY every minute of it

And, from my family to yours...

Enjoy Life TODAY!

As we continue with our "Positive Alphabet" we stop off at the letter "e" and will spend a few minutes talking about the need to, "Enjoy Life TODAY!".
If you've listened to me for very long at all, you know that I am a firm believer in this principle -- TODAY IS ALL WE HAVE!
Think about this: "TODAY is the TOMORROW that you worried about YESTERDAY!"
Also, consider this fact - Once that 24 hour period that we refer to as "tomorrow" arrives it then becomes "today".
So, for me, tomorrow really doesn't exist - all we have is TODAY!
And, it is up to each and every one of us to ENJOY and LIVE LIFE TODAY! Don't wait until tomorrow. Don't wait until this happens or that happens. Don't make your plans based on circumstances - you'll wait and waste your whole life away.
It's like a phrase I saw on a DVD the other day...I don't want to get to the end of my life and say, "I wish I had". I would much rather come to the end of my days and be able to gladly say, "I'm so glad I did!"
Don't you? Which would you choose? If you say that you don't want to have any regrets then understand that the way that you make that happen is by living and enjoying your life TODAY!
"Oh, but I have a stinky and terrible job!" (You can fill in whatever excuse that you want on this part).
SO WHAT? What does that have to do with your ability to "make it an AWESOME day"? Seriously! Think about it. Regardless of your job or circumstance, YOU have the ability to enjoy the day - it is up to you! I believe this 100% and have seen it manifested many times.
Last Thursday when I was in Springfield, MO. attending the "Get Motivated" Seminar on the campus of Missouri State University I noticed this principle being put into practice. There were nearly 10,000 people attending this seminar and, the most of them did not want to leave the arena during lunch. So, think about that...this is a smaller arena which means there are fewer food counters available. And, all at once, nearly 10,000 need to buy lunch!
Would YOU like to be behind the counter? Perhaps you would IF you were getting paid commission for every person that bought from you or from every order! That'd be great, wouldn't it? BUT, this is not the case the majority of time. Usually, regardless of the size of the crowd, that person behind the counter is getting paid the same each hour - the hourly wage.
Now, as much as I'd like to think that everyone attending that seminar was nice and polite as they ordered - I'm sure that just wasn't the case. When you get a crowd of people all "bunched up" all wanting the same thing and wanting it NOW....well, you get the picture!
As I stood in line, I just looked around and watched people. Some were smiling and laughing, some looked like they had been weened on a dill pickle and others look like they had been an extra in that "zombie movie". I then turned my attention to the people working behind the counter and I saw pretty much the same thing. In all fairness, I guess I really didn't see any of them frowning, but I could tell some of them were "rattled" by the crowd and that some were already tired and likely wishing that the day was over.
And then I noticed a young man named Chas!
Chas didn't seemed rattled or bothered by the crowd. As a matter of fact, if you had been standing beside me watching this young man you would have thought that Chas was getting $1 per person that he waited on!
He was smiling - not a fake smile, but a genuine, "I'm glad to be serving you" kind of smile - and greeting each person as they came to the counter.
Now, I noticed some of the other workers smiling too. However, what I noticed with some of them was that it was one that they "put on" as each customer came to the counter and "released" until the next person stepped up. I'm not faulting them! They were tired, rushed, pushed and demanded upon.
But there was something different about Chas!
I don't know his background. I don't know his circumstances. I would guess that Chas would not want to do this job for the rest of his life BUT this was the job that he had now and, by all appearances, he had decided to enjoy his life TODAY regardless!
And, for me, it was contagious. I cannot help but think that there were others that noticed this young man and had their spirits lifted by his smile and enthusiasm.
And, yes, I DID tell him what an excellent job he was doing - even though I was in a different line!
So, you see, it doesn't matter - it is all up to you. Really. It is. What will YOU do with your day?
It is up to you. You can either "fuss it away" or you can choose to...
"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

Fun Friday - Arkansas Jokes

Yeah, I'm FROM Arkansas so I can do these jokes!

Let's all laugh and have fun (as a matter of fact, chances are you have ALREADY listened to the podcast by this time since it's 6:30 Friday evening my time as I type this) on this FUN FRIDAY and carry it on all the way through the weekend.

I just got back from a very enjoyable 200 mile ride on my motorcycle today. For me, there is nothing more enjoyable than getting out on the open road on my bike. Had several chores to take care of in different towns and the weather was perfect for taking my bike.

So, due to that, this is getting posted a lot later than I had planned!

Anyway - make it an AWESOME Day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)

"FUN FRIDAY!"

Wow - I just had a BLAST recording today's podcast entitled, "FUN Friday!"

If you haven't had the chance to listen to it - make sure you do as soon as you can so that you can add to the things that can make you put a smile on your face, do something a little crazy and maybe even laugh out loud!
(By the way - I finally figured out how to put that button up on the upper right hand column with the "orange-ish" XML button there so that you can click and access the podcasts).

A few months ago I - along with my wife - realized that we just weren't having much fun day to day. Nothing bad was happening, but we were just getting lost in the "hum-drum" day in/day out activities and weren't having as much fun as we could or should.

So, I came up with the WONDERFUL idea (yeah, I know, shamless self-promotion, huh? But hey, it's my blog and my idea! ;) ) that, whenever any of us - me, my wife or our son, Jordan - called out, "Booty shake!" that all of us HAD to stand up wherever we were and regardless of what we were doing and REGARDLESS of whether we wanted to or not and SHAKE OUR BOOTY. No, no music - just "booty shaking"!

Do you know how hard that is to do without smiling, laughing and maybe even just "cracking up"? You tend to let loose and "ham it up" a bit!

If you don't believe me - try it out for yourself! Now, if you listen to today's podcast I even provide some fun music to do this with (can you say, "K.C. and the Sunshine Band"??) - BUT the key is to get "brave and bold" enough to step on out there and do it even when there is NO music to be heard!

So what if others look at you funny?
So what if they laugh "at" you instead of "with" you?
WHO CARES???

(Disclaimer: Now, obviously, one should use a little common sense in this excercise so as to not get themselves fired from their job. If you DON'T (use common sense) and you DO (get fired) - IT AIN'T MY FAULT!)

So, anyway - I dare you to do the "booty shake" RIGHT NOW wherever you are - no matter what is going on around you (but again, read the above mentioned disclaimer!).

Don't limit your fun to Friday - make it a habit!!

YOU can have an AMAZING IMPACT on many people around you just by deciding - yes, making a DECISION - to smile and enjoy the day!

So, until next time.....DO THE BOOTY SHAKE and ....

"Make it an AWESOME Day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"
