Find the Good!

About a week before this article I did another one on the need to "Stay Positive". In that article I talked about how, at times, I almost have to make a "game" out of finding SOMETHING positive to focus on during some days because of the abundance of negativity that seems to surround me. And, I know that many of you can relate to what I'm saying on that.

In similar fashion, you may have to do the same when it comes to "finding the good" in some days. I love what the phrase that you see posted above states about that: "Every day may not be good, BUT, there is SOMETHING good in every day!"

One of the examples that I use in the podcast is that of a funeral. I think it would be easy to say that we'd all agree that such a day is NOT a good day! However, even in the midst of the sadness of such a day there is still something good that can achieved. Many times, in such a situation, family members get to visit with each other and catch up with each other. Often, some of these family members have not seen each other in years. Some even feel a little guilty when they find themselves laughing and smiling while sharing some fond (and often, funny) memories with those family members.
Hopefully you don't have to experience those situations very often but, chances are, you still do struggle with days that may not be considered "good" just because of some of the struggles and negativity that seems to fill that particular day. Hey, sometimes, at the end of the day, the GOOD thing that you find is that the day if is finally over! 😏

LIFE brings good days as well as what may be considered bad. One good thing about that fact is that, even when you are experiencing those "not-so-good" days it points out the fact that you are ALIVE and that you are experiencing life! That, my friend, is a GOOD thing!

One of the reasons that I spend time doing these podcasts and writing these blog articles is so that I can better equip myself (and you as well) to face and handle those times that are a bit of a struggle. There are times that I can "see" that I've improved in handling those situations better than before. That's a good thing.

Make sense?

This is all part of "improving your mindset". Yes, some times it is VERY difficult to do and sometimes you just sit and "scratch your head" trying to find something GOOD in every day but, friend, it's there. Open your eyes and your mind and discover the GOOD even in a day that is NOT so good.

(Aren't you glad I didn't use that worn out saying about turning lemons into lemonade?)

Until next time, friend, whatever you do, be sure to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

That's GOOD!

That picture is from the television show, "Hee Haw", from several years back. The guy on the left is the late Archie Campbell and the guy on the right is Roy Clark, during a skit they would do called, "That's Good, That's Bad".

In this skit, Archie would tell Roy about a string of events that happened over a period of time. For example, Archie told Roy that he fell out of an airplane.
Roy: That's bad!
Archie: No, that's good.
Roy: How is that good?
Archie: I saw a haystack down below.
Roy: That's good!
Archie: No, that's bad.
Roy: How is that bad?
Archie: I also saw a pitchfork sticking up and out of the haystack!
Roy: Oh, that IS bad.
Archie: No, that's good.
Roy: How is that good?
Archie: I missed the pitchfork!
Roy, Well, THAT'S good.
Archie: No, that's bad.
Roy: How is that bad?
Archie: I missed the haystack, too!

I loved that little skit and it still makes me laugh even now. In reality, there IS good and bad that can be found in just about every situation. Much of it depends on what we focus on, right?

Oh, I know, this can be a bit over-simplified but, I just want to make a simple point today...the first day of the week and, perhaps, the first day of your work week.

You have the opportunity to set the tone for the week TODAY! That being said, it is important to focus on maintaining a POSITIVE attitude in spite of what may be negative in your world or as a part of your world.

I want to encourage you to focus on what is GOOD in your life and in your world today. I actually want you to start off by writing down FIVE things that are good in your life.

Go on, DO IT!

I'll start you off with #1: YOU ARE ALIVE TODAY.

"As long as there is breath, there is hope." That's right, you have OPPORTUNITY today because you are alive and breathing today. As bad as some things may be in your world right now, you have the chance to improve things - even just a little - TODAY.

So now you only have to start with 4 more (but be sure to put that first one down and think about it) and then go from there. As you have breaks throughout your day, write down some more. Maybe even keep this list out on your desk and add to it as things come to mind.

See if you can't at least come up with TEN before the day is over and, if possible, just let it flow and see how many you can come up with. You may be surprised!

Let's change the title of a novel up a little bit and use it like this:

"Something GOOD this way comes!"

Write that at the top of your paper and repeat it often as you go through your day.

Think about it, write it all down and be thankful. And then, EXPRESS THAT THANKS.

That's GOOD!

Until next time, always be sure to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

Focus On What Is...

I don't know where it came from but this phrase that you see above just "came to me" the other day. I think it's pretty good and powerful and I wanted to share it with you along with some other thoughts.

By the way, here's what I have found to be true - when you immerse yourself in positive information like you are doing right now, your whole mindset changes and the thoughts that come out of that new mindset may surprise you. So, keep pumping the positive into that mind of yours and see what happens and what comes from your thought process.

What do you focus on?

It's been said again and again that whatever it is that you focus on is what you attract to your life. That is basically known as "The Law of Attraction".

So, where is YOUR focus?

Another way to look at the phrase above is to approach it like this:
"Focus on what is........(fill in the blank...right? powerful? positive? true?)
and not on what ISN'T.....(fill in the blank with the same word that you chose in the first part)."

Too often we tend to focus on "lack" or on what isn't. Believe me, I know from experience when things aren't going well in your life it is EASY to only see and focus on what "isn't" in your life. Yet there is so much that "IS" to focus on, even in difficult times.

I know that, for me, it was my three boys that really helped me focus on something positive and what I DID have (what IS) to be grateful and thankful for through it all. Of course, my wife also fit into that category but my boys were so young that they didn't know or care about "what wasn't".

Friend, you have MANY THINGS to focus on that "IS".

Look there. Focus there. Be thankful there. Live there. Thrive there.

Yes, you can.

And, as you do, be sure to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"
