I AM ABLE to Accomplish GREAT Things!

If you haven't done so, be sure to take a look at yesterday's blog to get the full listing of my "7 Life-changing, Life-directing, Powerful Daily Affirmations" and begin to incorporate them into your daily schedule.

For me, the best time to do this is in the mornings before I leave the house. Perhaps you can tape these to your mirror and say them while you are getting ready for the day. Or, you may want to put them by your door to stop and say right before you leave your house. Whatever you do - I really want to encourage you to DO these each and every day.

#2: I AM ABLE to Accomplish GREAT Things!
"Great things" can mean a lot of different things and I'd like to touch on that first. First of all, let's talk about what it DOESN'T have to mean, o.k.?
If you DON'T become President of the United States, it doesn't mean that you have not accomplished great things in your life. If you DON'T find the cure for cancer, it doesn't mean that you have not accomplished great things in your life.
See what I mean?
Sometimes when we consider "great things" we tend to think of things that would make us famous and known world-wide. That's not necessarily the case!
Now, are these GREAT things to accomplish? Absolutely! If you set out to do such things with your life - GO FOR IT and give it all you have!
However, let's not miss the fact that there are MANY things we can do with/in our lives that can be considered "great" that no one may ever even know about.
One of the things that I mention in today's podcast is a situation where a single mother is working hard at one, two and maybe even three jobs just to try to provide for her child or children. This mother may not consider the fact that she is providing a home and food and clothing for her children a great thing - but it is!
Parent's who love their children and always make sure that their children KNOW that they are loved are, also, doing GREAT things!
See what I mean? Let's not overlook some of the so-called "simple" things that can also be great!
What ARE your goals and plans? What HAVE you been working towards in your life? What are your DREAMS and what are you doing to enable yourself to REACH those goals, plans and dreams?
Whatever it is - or whatever they are - you DO have the ability to accomplish GREAT things! And, yes, this DOES also mean that you have the ability to accomplish things in your life that you and probably others would think is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE for you to do!
Yet, when you take into consideration what we looked at yesterday in our first affirmation ("I am somebody special!") and combine that with today's affirmation then you can KNOW that you can, indeed, ACCOMPLISH GREAT THINGS!
You ARE special and you have been given the ability to accomplish things beyond your comprehension!
When you combine the miraculous wonder that God made you to be (your mind and body) with all of the assets available for each of us to use today (the internet, for example) then you end up with an UNBELIEVABLE and POWERFUL FORCE!
WOW! Just really take a moment and consider that!
You CAN because you ARE!
You CAN accomplish great things because you ARE somebody special!
It's true. Whether you feel this or not, say it anyway each day. Out loud. You will be amazed at what happens over time to your belief system as your subconscious mind begins to take this as a fact and repeat it to you as such.
Remember - you CAN because you ARE!
And, as always...

I Am Somebody Special!

7 Life-Changing,
Life-Directing,
Powerful
Daily Affirmations!
1. I am somebody SPECIAL!
2. I AM ABLE to accomplish GREAT things!
3. I AM ABLE to TOUCH and CHANGE many lives for the better!
4. I will not allow ANYONE to determine the size of my dreams!
THEY ARE MINE!
5. I AM A GIVER - not a taker!
6. I WILL take steps on this journey TODAY!
7. I CAN! I WILL! I MUST!

These are the daily affirmations that I came up with - for myself- on August 21, 2008. They are mine and they are adapted and crafted for me and my life.
HOWEVER, I did also craft them in such a way that I felt could be used and beneficial by anyone that would choose to use them in their own life. Try them as they are for a week or so and then adapt them to fit your life. Add to them, change them, rewrite them for YOU and come up with your OWN, personalized daily affirmations!
Yes, it is still o.k. if you continue to use them just as they are. Perhaps they speak to you without the need for changing them. The main thing is - you have to believe (or at least KNOW that you do have the abilities mentioned here, even if you don't "feel" them right now) that this potential lies within you!
1. I am somebody SPECIAL!
I'm not going to say a whole lot about this in today's blog - I really encourage you to listen to the podcast for more, BUT -- this is the whole foundation or building block for the rest of the affirmations that I have compiled.
YOU ARE UNIQUE! There is NO ONE else like you in the whole wide world - isn't that cool?
Use this as a POSITIVE! Since there is no one else like you in the whole world, understand that you have something valuable to share with your world! You have thoughts and ideas that no one else has. Sure, they may have similar thoughts and ideas, but you and your life experiences put a "slant" on them that belong only to you! Stand tall and pride in this fact and present yourself in this way!
Don't allow anyone to tell you that this is a NEGATIVE in any way! Some may say that you are unique as if that is a bad thing! How? Well, in my opinion, usually people that would say this actually KNOW that it is not a bad thing and they actually DO know that you are pretty special. However, being the negative people that they are they feel the need to try to make themselves look better by trying to tear you down.
DO NOT ALLOW THIS!
Thank them for the observation that you are, indeed, unique and special!
And, you are!
Live it! Believe it! Say it to yourself - EVERY SINGLE DAY!
And, as you do so....

Good-bye 2009 and Hello 2010!


Just For TODAY!

"Four Ways to Make Sure Your New Year Is, Indeed, Happy!"

1. CHOOSE To Be Happy
2. Get Your PRIORITIES Straight!
3. Get Focused!
As we close out the discussion on "Four Ways to Make Sure Your New Year Is, Indeed, Happy!" we come to the "magical" part of the equation - are you ready? (Well, you've looked at the title already, right? So you already know what's coming!)
4. JUST FOR TODAY!
Now, again, please don't let the simplicity of this throw you off. Please don't dismiss this because of the simplicity.....Sometimes the PROFOUND can be FOUND in the simple!
You see, here's the thing - don't plan too far ahead in this choice of "happiness" - just do it for today! Too many times we get discouraged when we consider whether or not we can do something for a long period of time. "I'm not sure I can do this for a whole year!" or "I'm not sure I can do this for the next six months!"
But let me ask you this...do you think you can do the following JUST FOR TODAY?
- CHOOSE to be happy!
- Get your PRIORITIES straight!
- Get FOCUSED!
Just for today - think that's something you can do? Sure it is! JUST FOR TODAY!
Now, please understand - this doesn't mean that negative things won't happen to you and that "bad things" won't cross your path. It doesn't mean that all of the negative people and/or forces that normally come into your life will all disappear.
BUT...I do believe that I can promise you this: If you will do these things on a DAILY basis and focus ONLY on accomplishing them on a daily basis - you WILL be happy! You will be able to keep your focus and correct any distractions that have taken your focus away during THIS day before too much begins to take your attention away too far. See what I mean?
So, you see - this IS "do-able"!
Believe you can - KNOW you can!
And, as you go along this journey, never forget to...

Get Focused!

Again - do NOT let the simplicity of these points/steps fool you. Remember, the PROFOUND can often be FOUND in the SIMPLE!
So, let's do a quick recap: first of all, realize that HAPPINESS IS A CHOICE and that you can CHOOSE to be happy! That being said, it's obvious then, that you can also choose to be miserable! Why would anyone do that? I don't know - but I've seen it many times and still can't figure it out completely. So, first and foremost - make a decision to CHOOSE happiness in your life! By the way, if you haven't done so yet - go back to Monday's podcast/blog and make sure you do the lists that are talked about...THIS IS IMPORTANT!
Secondly, it is vitally important for you to GET YOUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT! What is really important in your life? How important is it? What is the MOST important thing in your life? Once you have set some priorities (why not make a list of the top 10?) You see, when we try to live our lives in conflict with the important things in our lives, we will always be unhappy and often just plain miserable! By the way, have you done the list talked about in yesterday's blog yet? If not - DO IT NOW! Again, this is important!
So, now you have made a choice to be happy! You have made a list of your priorities after giving this a lot of thought. You now can look at your list and SEE and KNOW what, indeed, IS the most important thing(s) in your life, right?
Now...GET FOCUSED!
The other day I watched the Disney-Pixar movie, "Up". And yes, I highly recommend this movie to you - yes you, even as an adult! Anyway, in the movie (now this is going to sound strange if you've not seen the movie) the dogs have an apparatus attached to them that allows them to "talk" or to have their thoughts heard. It's quite fun to "listen" to them talk about something only to be distracted in the middle of a thought with...."SQUIRREL!"
How many of us are like that? How many get distracted very easily at other things going on around them? How many times have you set out with a new list of "new year's resolutions" only to see them go by the wayside in a month or two?
Perhaps it would be good for us to look at the word, "resolution" and break it down to it's base word - RESOLVE. The verb usage of the word means: "to come to a definite or earnest decision about; determine" and the noun usage of the word means: "a resolution or determination made, as to follow some course of action. firmness of purpose or intent; determination."
Have the determination - the RESOLVE - to stick to your priorities! Do NOT allow anyone or anything to distract you from your focus, your determination, your resolve!
Yes, this will take discipline - which most of us lack. Why not work in this area of discipline while sticking to your priorities!
Easier said than done? Yes! But, in tomorrow's podcast and final blog for the year I will share with you the final, secret ingredient of this formula for happiness.
