Get Your THINK On!

"The only difference between those who fail and those who succeed is the way  they THINK!"
Mike Spillman

"C'mon, Mike, don't you think you are over-simplifying things a bit with that quote?"

Absolutely not! It really IS that simple, friend! Please be sure to listen to the podcast and watch the video on this topic to get some additional material as I discuss this very important topic.

I really DO mean to say that the ONLY difference between those who fail and those who succeed is the way that they think. It's their mindset! And, yes, there IS a difference in how "these people" think as compared to the "ordinary person" which, many times, describes you and me.

I've heard SEVERAL wealthy and successful people say that, if for some misfortune, they were to lose all of their wealth that it would not be that big of a setback. Why? Because they KNOW that they can recover that wealth and, likely, even more. Compare that to most of us if we were to get "wiped out" by some unfortunate event. "WOE IS ME! I'M RUINED AND DOOMED TO DESTITUTION!"

However - and this is important - it IS possible for you and me to CHANGE the way that we think and to IMPROVE our mindset and how we think about things. We DO have the ability to learn how to think about and approach roadblocks, set backs and obstacles that get in our way as we try to achieve our goals and/or dreams. We DO have the ability to develop a "never-give-up" mentality as opposed to a mentality that says, "Give Up" at the very first sign of resistance.

How do you develop such a mindset?

Let me answer that question with a few questions: What do YOU do EACH DAY to make sure that you are absorbing as much POSITIVE information as possible? What and who do you read about so that you can study what that person has done to achieve the success that they may have? What do YOU do on a DAILY basis to "fortify" your mindset and to protect it from the negative influences that we all face every day?

It's like someone saying that they want to get in the best shape of their life and, as part of that, they really want to develop a muscular physique but, at the same time, they are unwilling to do ANY exercise or lean anything about weight training.

How is YOUR thinking? Do you need to refocus your mindset back to the "what IS" side of the equation and away from the "what ISN'T" side?

As the graphic states, maybe it's time to "Get Your THINK On!" and, friend, spending time here is just one of the ways to help you in that process. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of that process for you.

Drop by my Facebook page (link below) and let me hear from you. Until then, whatever you do, always be sure to...

Think About This

"...Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." (Philippians 4:8b) NLT

In the last blog article we talked about the need to control our tongue. As part of that, I brought out the fact that, the only way to control our TONGUE was to control our THOUGHTS.

You control your thoughts by deciding what you ALLOW in your mind!

That's right...what YOU allow.

Now, I understand that sometimes things get in that we don't want to have in our mind but, for the most part, we can keep those kinds of thoughts out. Even if an unwanted thought sneaks in, we can OVERCOME and OVERWHELM that particular thought with positive thoughts and positive thinking.

YOU are in charge of what is in there (your mind). YOU!

Become "top-notch serious" about defending that space between your ears, friend, and see what happens.

Control your thoughts and you control your words. Control your words and you control your relationships. You control your relationships and you control your world.

I understand that some of you may be thinking that you cannot control all of your relationships. I'll give you that because it is a struggle to even know what relationships are actually good for you. So, yeah, I get that.

Too, don't take the word "control" and apply it in an incorrect way. I'm not talking about "making" people do what you want or be what you want.

I DO mean that you have the ability to - over time - have a positive influence over ALL of your relationships if you stick with it. Some will take longer and some won't take long at all.

What are you allowing in your mind? Look at the graphic and also notice the scripture beneath the graphic. They are both very similar in what they say. Now, be honest with yourself and do a quick check to see how many of those things listed you actually think about very often.

Replace the drama, the stress and the negativity with more thoughts of kindnes, being honorable and inspiring. Don't you wish everyone that you know would do that as well?

Let it start with you...let it start with you.

Think about it.

And, as you do so, be sure to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

UNCHAIN YOUR BRAIN!!!

My wife and I just finished an intense - but LOTS of fun - brainstorming session about some things that we began talking about last night. We just stopped what we were doing and began to talk and, before you know it, we both were throwing out ideas and thoughts about these things. My wife - at my suggestion - began jotting these things down in her notebook since, for the most part, these thoughts were about some things that SHE wanted to pursue for herself.

Now, because of that, I began to also talk about how these very same things could/would translate for myself in things that I've talked about over the years and, for whatever reason, forgot about and even "lost my vision" about. Make sense?

How freeing and refreshing to just "let 'er rip" (as the graphic I put together states) and allow your mind (your brain) to think openly without restrictions. (For those that are not familiar with American slang, "let 'er rip" simply means to unleash something, set it free and just let it go wherever it wants to go!).

But, the problem is that, many times, we must not only "unchain" our brain, but we must also UN-TRAIN our brain in order to think freely like this.

By the way, before I go any further, while searching for a graphic for "Unchain Your Brain", I came across some other images that indicated that others have used this phrase in the past and that, apparently, there is some band that even had a song or album by this name. I don't really know for sure. THIS I DO KNOW - I'm not attempting to steal any one's idea or "property" by using this phrase. I actually thought of the phrase after our brainstorming session and put the phrase into a search engine on my computer to see what I could find to use as an image. O.K.? Make sense? Good!

Too many times our thinking is restricted by what we have been taught and/or told in the past. "STOP DAYDREAMING!" How many of you have ever been told that before? Likely all of you and me included! Or, "GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE CLOUDS!" which is the same idea, just worded a little differently.

Then, on top of all of that, many times LIFE just pours down on us in such a way that we just simply lose sight of goals and dreams that we may have once had in the past. The spark of light that once was a dream becomes nothing more than a dim ray that is slowly sinking behind the horizon.

See those chains in the image above? That's you and that's me IF we don't do something to prevent that from happening! Friend, that may have already happened in your life and, if that is so, then you MUST shake things up a bit in order to "UNCHAIN YOUR BRAIN"!

You see, when we allow our brains to be "locked up" and "chained down" we can no longer think freely. Oh, we may attempt to do so from time to time, but the strain of doing so while our brains are in this state of being, is just a bit too strenuous and we soon stop even trying.

THINK WITHOUT BOUNDARIES and see what happens. Allow yourself to freely "brainstorm" without those boundaries and without those thoughts of "you can't really do that" bouncing around in your head. The idea of brainstorming is to allow your brain to just "go wild" without those boundaries!

Write your thoughts down or record them via audio...whatever you do, record them in SOME way so that you can have those thoughts as evidence of your ability to think in such a way. Also, they can serve as an "igniter" for the future when you want to do so once again.

Approach it all in a way that says, "YES, I CAN" as opposed to "No, I can't" and see what happens. You likely will find that many things that you thought were impossible before, begin to appear as VERY possible for and in your life!

Get EXCITED about the possibilities! Get EXCITED about your ability to THINK and to ACT upon those thoughts! Get EXCITED about the fact that you are ALIVE and, that being so, you are also CAPABLE of acting upon those thoughts!

That's right, friend...unchain your brain and LET 'ER RIP!

And, as you do so, you will find that it is much easier to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

Think on Purpose!

Today I'm going to start a discussion on some things that I've been reading in the James Allen classic, "As A Man Thinketh". I eluded to the fact in one of last week's blogs that I was reading this book again and even shared part of one line from the book. Before I get started, I want to share the link to where you can get your own free, downloadable copy of this great book. Vick Johnson is the creator of this page and is a trustworthy source. I have attended a program organized by Vick and, as you'll see, he can also direct you to many great resources on his page. Get your free download of this book by clicking HERE.

Now then, let's get to the discussion for today. By the way, be sure to listen to the podcast as well and get extra information and thoughts on today's topic. Just click either the iTunes link or the RSS feed link at the bottom of the article.

If you haven't had the chance to read and/or listen to last week's series on the path to your DESTINY then please be sure to do so as soon as you can. Many of the thoughts that I shared in them led me to re-reading this book and finding many similarities to what is said there with the thoughts that I shared last week. Things found in this book BACK UP what I shared with you in last week's series.

Here are two lines, in particular, that I pulled out of the chapter entitled, "Thought and Purpose", that I was reading just this morning. The first states this: "Until thought is linked with purpose there is no intelligent accomplishment." And the second, in part reads: "They who have no central purpose in their life fall an easy prey to...failure, unhappiness, and loss."

Although THINKING something is a wonderful thing to do, it serves no real purpose unless PURPOSE is attached to the thought! I guess one could even say that, without PURPOSE, this type of THINKING could be described as "day dreaming".

Do you remember the progression to your destiny that we discussed last week? Your thoughts become words, your words become actions, your actions become habits, your habits become your character and your character is your destiny.

We all have thoughts, words and actions! All of us. Without PURPOSE they will not take us on a planned journey. Oh, they will take us on a journey but it will be an "uncharted" journey with no direction or planned destiny.

We must attach PURPOSE to our thoughts, words and actions in order to ACHIEVE that which we have set out to accomplish.

Without PURPOSE we have no plan to defend against the negative forces that may come our way and we will - as James Allen states - "fall an easy prey to failure, unhappiness, and loss."

THINK on PURPOSE!

PLAN on PURPOSE!

LIVE on PURPOSE!

Otherwise your life and your destiny will be that of an unplanned, haphazard, unguided drift steered by the waves of life. I think you would say with me, "NO THANKS! THAT'S NOT FOR ME!"

There IS a "purpose" for your life. Why, then, should you ever approach your life without purpose? As you take that into consideration, be sure to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"
