This Becomes Your DESTINY

Before I start in on my thoughts for today's article, let me take a moment and encourage you to be sure to also listen to the podcast! There are two ways to access it and both links are located at the bottom of this article. I tell people that listen to the podcast to be sure to also read the blog and now I'm telling you to be sure to listen to the podcast.
Why? Because they are done at two different times and there is not a script. That means that you will get additional material besides what you find here.
Too, let me just say that when you read this blog you can't "hear" the passion in my voice and the inflection found there as well. So, be sure to read AND listen, o.k.?
Oh, and one more thing - SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!
Now on to the show (as they say).
Today I'm going to discuss the last two "verses" of this graphic since we have come to the end of the week. Again, let me emphasize that, what you have before you, is a PATH, a ROAD MAP to your destiny!
Your destiny is not something that has been predetermined even if you or others think that it has been done. NO!
Do NOT settle for that way of thinking or do NOT listen to anyone that would tell you such garbage! YOU have control over the direction of your destiny and - negative or positive - it is laid out for you in the graphic above.
Your thoughts, words, actions, habits and your character....THIS becomes your destiny!
Yes, you can change your habits from bad to good by simply going back to taking control over your thoughts. Remember? Your thoughts become words, your words become actions and your actions become habits!
These habits become your character - WHO YOU ARE!
We live in a world (at least in my opinion) that is short on solid and trustworthy character. It's a shame but I see it pretty much every day.
We live in a world where lying is accepted and laughed at as if it really doesn't matter. We live in a world where our young people are not being taught how to be mannerly, respectful and honorable and it's sad to see.
When you live in such a way as to direct your path to your destiny, you provide a way - a road map - for your children and your grandchildren that can be passed down from one generation to another.
You may think that I have too easily interchanged the ideas of destiny with that of your legacy or dynasty. Don't let that distract you but think of this: Creating and directing your DESTINY will, indeed become your legacy and your dynasty. That, my friend, is a fact!
I was reading James Allen's "As a Man Thinketh" last night and there was part of one sentence that jumped out at me due to what we have been discussing the past few days. Here it is: "Thought and character are one..."
Your habits (which derive from your thoughts) become your CHARACTER and, yes, your character becomes your DESTINY!
Wow, does that impress you as it does me?
No more "floating around" with no control when it comes to your destiny. YOU set the sail, my friend, YOU plot the course and YOU blaze the trail.
It is YOUR destiny and YOU are in control.
And, never forget, that it begins with what you think.
Feed your mind and build a destiny that you can be proud of and one that you know will withstand the test of time long after you are gone.
And, as you go about building this powerful and positive destiny, be sure to...
"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

Watch Your ACTIONS

Step 3: Watch Your Actions

Thoughts to words, words to actions and actions to...

There are both kinds of habits - good and bad. Where do they come from? How do we develop them?

Follow the progression in the graphic above. Short trip - our habits come from our thoughts! Yes, follow it on through just as in the first sentence of this article and you may find yourself wincing just a bit...OUCH!

Who knew, right? I mean, how many of us really considered how our THOUGHTS made such a difference? Let's jump a little ahead here and understand that our THOUGHTS lead to our DESTINY and that should really give us all a bit of a jolt.

Here's the thing to think about: You WILL have a destiny even if you do nothing!

That's right. Do nothing and you will have a destiny of nothing. Get by doing as little as possible and shirk as much responsibility as possible and you will have a destiny of little.

Pay attention to your thoughts for they WILL lead to your actions - good or bad, positive or negative. Take control and add as much positive input to your mindset as you possibly can.

I had someone ask me just yesterday about this idea of replacing so many negative thoughts with positive thoughts. "How do I do that?" was basically what was asked. The answer? READ AND LISTEN TO AS MUCH POSITIVE "STUFF" AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN!

Remember "remove and replace"?

Remove the negative and replace it with the positive.

Do you want to leave a powerful and positive destiny to be passed down for generations? It all begins with your thoughts that turn into words and then turn into actions which become your habits!

Destiny. I love this part of the definition I found for this word: "the power or agency that determines the course of events"

The "power or agency" that will actually determine your course of events begins with your thoughts which, in the long run, becomes your destiny.

It is not set. It is not something that you cannot control or even change. If you don't like the destiny that you are forming now - CHANGE THE PATH!

Yeah, think about it for a moment before asking how you do that. Change your thoughts, your words, your actions and  CHANGE YOUR HABITS.

It IS possible and it IS necessary if your habits are not ones that you wish to have.

"As long as there is breath there is hope." That points out that you can begin that process TODAY.

Get after it, friend and, as you do so be sure to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

Watch Your WORDS!

Part 2: Watch Your WORDS!
Today we continue our discussion of the progression to our DESTINY - pretty powerful to consider, wouldn't you agree?
"How do I create a destiny? How do I leave behind a great destiny?"
Both of these questions are answered the same way. IT BEGINS WITH YOUR THOUGHTS!
Again, follow the progression that you find in the graphic above and you will clearly see the "path to your destiny" right before your very eyes! Easier said than done? ABSOLUTELY!
C'mon, what did you think? A DESTINY is not something that is done haphazardly or without thought and planned actions. No friend, too many people have thought that and tried that only to fail and leave a destiny of failure and despair.
A powerful, positive and great DESTINY is something that is done on PURPOSE!
Go back and read that last sentence again. It was pretty good if I do say so myself! You WILL leave "a" destiny - one way or the other. However, what kind of destiny you leave is totally up to you and your PLANNED or UNPLANNED approach.
For those who are just not "getting it", what you see in the graphic above is a PLAN - a road map - to a positive and powerful destiny! It's right there in front of you as I have already pointed out.
Your THOUGHTS become WORDS and your WORDS become ACTIONS.
Don't believe it? Just take a look around you and observe. Now, since you likely wouldn't believe it if someone told you that you spoke and active in a negative way, then take a look at others around you. See those that talk and act negatively? If you think and speak that way then, friend, you also ACT just like them!
Have you ever heard that phrase, "You are what you eat" ?
It's true here as well. You are what you consume mentally. You ARE what you allow into your mind and mindset - positive or negative. And, if you allow BOTH in then, guess which one will come out on top? Whichever you allow in most. That's right!
Last night while in a different room than where the television was, I heard a game show host "interviewing" one of the contestants at the start of the show. I listened with interest as this lady responded to questions about her work, her husband and her family with such positive words! She CHOSE carefully the words that she used as she talked about the company that she worked for being "the best (of this type) company in the whole world". She continued by referring to her husband as "the best husband that a woman could ask for" and her kids as "each of them are awesome and amazing young people". Now, these aren't exact quotes but they are very close to what she said.
Let me ask you a question. How do you think this lady performed at her workplace? How do you think she generally interacted with her husband and her children?
Without knowing anything about her (other than what I heard her speak) I would suggest that she was a GREAT and VALUED employee and one that had a very special relationship with her husband as well as her children.
Her THOUGHTS became her WORDS and her WORDS became her ACTIONS!
"For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he..." (Proverbs 23:7). And yes, this verse is the premise on which James Allen wrote his famous book, "As a Man Thinketh".
Want to change your behavior? Change your words.
Want to change your words? Change your thoughts.
The path to your great and powerful DESTINY awaits!
And, as you move along this great path, be sure to...
"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

Look at the graphic and notice the progression. This week I will be taking a look at EACH of these steps in this progression.
Because if we don't want this progression to take place in a negative way and we DO want it to take place in a POSITIVE way then we may want to look at each step closely.
Part 1: Watch your THOUGHTS, they become WORDS!
Have you ever caught yourself thinking, "Wow, I wished I hadn't said that!"? Guess what? If you don't want to SAY it then don't THINK it!
As much as we want to claim differently, it is a fact that what is said is at first THOUGHT. Your brain simply cannot act on it's on when it comes to talking. You have to THINK it in order to SPEAK it. Sorry, you can't get off that easy by saying, "I spoke before I thought!". Uh, no.
This simply speaks to the importance of taking the time to think a little longer BEFORE you speak!
This is also another reason why it is so important to add to your "library of positive thoughts" of your mind.
No matter how hard you try, if you keep thinking it, "it" will come out of your mouth!
Like everything else, it is YOUR choice. It is a choice as far as to what you think and what you say.
If you are not sure that this is important, look again at the graphic above and realize that THIS IS THE START OF THE PATH TO YOUR DESTINY.
You can speak death (negative) or life (positive) into existence beginning with your thoughts that will turn into your words.
Death or life. Hmmmmm....which would you CHOOSE?
Kind of important, would you agree?
Be careful what you think. Your thoughts become your words. Choose carefully, friend.
And, as you do so, be sure to...
"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

Planting Seed for Your Future

So, just like the instructions from the last article, if you haven't read the past two articles, take time now to do that before reading on.

Yup. I'm waiting.
Hey now, we talked about a LOT of "hard" work in making sure that "seed" produced what it was supposed to produce AND that we understood the fact that the work was not done just because that flower (or whatever it was you planted) bloomed and looked like advertised on the packaging.
The flowers that you see in the picture above are Iris'. I don't have pictures of Daffodils, but they do the same thing as I'm going to discuss about the Iris'.
They are called "perennials" which means that they will come back year after year once it has bloomed. In other words, unlike "annuals" which have to be planted every year, you plant these ONCE and they return without the extra work.
Pretty cool, right?
But wait, there's more!
I don't know that this is true for all perennials, but with the two that I referred to it is for sure. Not only do they come back year after year BUT they "spread" in such a way that you will have MORE than the one you originally planted.
That's right, other "shoots" or "sprouts" will come up from their root system and you will end up with more flowers than you know what to do with in just a few short years.
Listen to the podcast for more thoughts on this but, friend, I want you to think about this and make the application.
It doesn't have to be talking about a business or anything like that. This is true even of "raising" a child (as we say in the South) or the impact that you have on those around you.
Again, listen to the podcast for more details on these thoughts.
It's called the "ripple effect" like we talked about just a few posts ago.
In many areas it's also called, "residual income". It's the income you receive in the future (from growth) all based on the work that you do upfront, today.
With people, the ripple effect, I'd like to also just refer to it as "residual blessings".
And that, my friend, is about as cool as cool can get!
But you MUST do the work first. Never forget that and NEVER, EVER give up on the process!
And, as always, be sure to...
"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

What To Feed Your Seed

This is important before we go on with today's blog article - if you haven't listened to (via the podcast - see links below) or read the topic from yesterday, please take a couple of minutes to do so.
I'll wait.
Really. Go ahead. I'll be here when you get back
Done? Good. Why was that important? Because today's topic is a direct "spin off" of what I discussed yesterday. So, now that we are all caught up, let's get started, shall we?
In discussing mindset (positive vs. negative) it definitely IS very important as to which "seed" we "plant". Again, if you haven't read the last article this likely makes no sense to you. However, for the rest of you, let's continue.
Also, as was discussed, it is VERY important for us to nourish or "feed" that seed as it begins it's growth. Without that, there will not be any growth.
Do these things and you will have your harvest, your crop, your bounty. You reap what you sow.
Now then, here are a few points I want to bring out that can change this whole equation in different ways even though you have the right seed.
MAIN POINT: The best seed does not guarantee results.
What? I thought if I planted the right "seed" then I was going to "sow" the right thing. You said that I would reap what I sowed or planted, didn't you?
Sure I did. However think about this for a moment:
   A. If you never plant that seed what will happen? See what I mean? You can buy the very best seed available, set it on the shelf, never take it out of the packaging and you will not have a harvest. Now, I know that sounds silly but how many people (maybe even you?) buy programs, systems and products but never do anything with them? Listen to the podcast about the man that had bought program after program and was actually turned down by the man who produced the products when the guy wanted to buy the current program available.
   B. You can plant the best seed in the best potting soil available anywhere on the face of this planet but, if you don't feed and nourish (water) that seed it will not grow. Period.
   C. Even if you do all of this right and you end up with what you planted, the work is not done. The example I use in the podcast is that of a beautiful flower. Look at the picture on the package of seeds. Isn't it pretty? And, look, you planted that seed, nourished and fed it and took care of it as it grew. And now, look at it - it's just like the picture on the package. IT'S BEAUTIFUL! However, if you walk away thinking the work is done and you stop watering and feeding that flower, it will die. After all of the work that you have put into this effort, it will still die if not continually fed. The work is not done - DO NOT FORGET THAT!
ANOTHER MAIN POINT: What you feed your seed and how you feed your seed - or even the fruit of your labor - matters!
So, you realize that you must continue to feed your plant, fruit, vegetable....whatever it is that you planted and nourished. You can't just walk away.
Now think about this as well: If you start using insecticide instead of water, what will happen? What if you use gasoline instead of water? How about using anti-freeze instead of water?
Simple. IT WILL DIE.
Sure, you got the right seed. You planted the seed in good soil and you took care of it, carefully nourishing it along the way until it became what it was intended to become.
However, if you are not careful, you can kill it no matter how much money you spent in the process or how much time you put into the task. You can NOT get careless and not pay attention to what you are doing!
Get the point?
You can pour every dime you have into a product or program and it will not guarantee success.
You can put the work into putting this program or product into action but, without continued "nourishment" or feeding, that effort will die. "Planting" does not guarantee success.
You can do it all right and bring your effort to fruition and create a situation beyond your wildest dreams. Wow, just step back and look at it! Success? Perhaps. However, if you walk away because you have "arrived" and you don't continue to "feed" this effort, it will die in spite of your efforts. That's right, success does not guarantee continued success.
Now do you get the point? If you know anything about plants then you know that there is no such thing as just walking away. You understand that it is a continual process to keep this plant healthy and alive.
The closest thing to a guarantee with success is your decision to never, ever give up and/or quit on your goals and dreams. You can never stop and you can never walk away.
Not if you want that "bumper crop" of whatever it is that you have planted.
How long will this last? Is it worth the effort?
That's something that can only be answered by you but, in the next article I will be discussing how, even in the plant world, we can see continued results from your current efforts.
Be sure to join me for that and, until then, be sure to...
"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

What Will Be Your "Harvest"?

What kind of seed do you plant if you want an apple tree? Corn? Of course not, if you plant corn, you will get corn. If you want to get an apple tree, you plant an apple seed, right?
So it is with what we wish to "harvest" in and with our lives, friend.
As always, the choice is mine and yours. It is our choice as to what we plant but, know this: we will reap (harvest) what we sow (plant).
Notice the quote above from Earl Nightingale: "Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality."
What is our subconscious mind? I came up with this analogy in the podcast and I think it's pretty good and easy to understand. Have you ever been around a young child that was learning to talk? You don't think much about what you say because this child has not been talking and you have not been made aware of what the child is actually hearing. And then, one day, the child repeats something back that you have said and you are shocked and embarrassed! The child has simply repeated what it has heard. The child does not understand the meaning or the intent behind the words.
So it is with your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind will pick up whatever you say and do - good or bad and will repeat it back to you. YIKES!
This is really not that hard to understand but it IS hard to change and it is hard to stay consistent (repetitious) with as well.
If you plant negativity into your subconscious mind and you nourish that "seed" with repetition, day in and day out, and emotion (anger, frustration, depression, hopelessness), then your harvest will BE a life of this negativity. You can't expect a peaceful life by planting and nourishing negativity.
The other side of the issue is true as well. I say on my podcast everyday that I believe that "Your greatest education takes place on the campus of your mind." It is of key importance that we all do everything within our power to plant nothing but good and positive thoughts into our subconscious mind.
When we plant that good seed and we nourish or water that seed repeatedly and with the emotions that go along with that seed (peace, happiness, joy) then we will reap the benefits of a life of peace, happiness and joy. Such is the harvest from this kind of seed!
So, again, it is up to you! Don't get upset when you plant squash and you get squash. Don't get upset when you plant negative thoughts and feelings and that is what you receive in the "harvest".
I'm here to help as much as I can with this blog and the podcast. Fill your mind - plant as much as you can - of this kind of "seed" and see what kind of fruit comes from such activity.
Get busy "farmer"!
And, as you do so, be sure to...
"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

The World Needs YOU!

Don't be overwhelmed when thinking of this.
It's like I said on the podcast (links below) - this doesn't mean you have to strive to be the owner of a huge, nationally known business or anything like that.
It simply means that YOU become who you were MEANT to be! (Just as it says above from Dani Johnson).
"To become" indicates an ongoing process, does it not? "To become" indicates that you are continuing the process and that it is not done as of yet.
I would even suggest that this is a process that NEVER ends as long as we live. We ALL continue to "become" the person we were meant to be each and every day.
Too many times we settle for less instead of striving for more or to be better.
Whoever you are, whatever your "lot in life" - do all that you can to improve a little each day so that you can become a "better" version today than you were yesterday.
Become the Dad you were meant to be. Become the Mom you were meant to be. Become the husband, the wife, the son, the daughter, the brother, the sister, school teacher, bus driver, garbage collector, etc. that you were MEANT to be!
"Wait, you mean I was MEANT to be a garbage collector?" Not necessarily. Sure, it is something that is NEEDED in our society and, if that is what you do for a living, you should become the best you can be at that job.
Here's the bottom line. You may not be doing what you were MEANT to do yet. You may go through years of doing other things before you find THE thing that you feel you were meant to do. But, here it is...are you ready?
THIS is what you were meant to be! The best YOU.
Stop trying to be like someone else. The world needs YOU to be the best YOU that there is.
Do that and I believe that the rest will take care of itself.
This is but another reason that it is so important for you to immerse yourself in as much positive material as you possibly can. You and I need all the help that we can get in becoming a better person each day.
You CAN do's all up to you, friend.
Be sure to...

How to Change the World

Wishful thinking? Perhaps.
But here is one thing I know...this is, for sure, one way to change YOUR world. And, if enough people would change "their" world in this way then there will, indeed, be an impact on the world as a whole.
It all begins right here with you and me.
Look around you. Pay attention to those that you come into contact with on a daily - or weekly - basis. Obviously, start with your family first and "move out" from there. Perhaps even sit down with a note pad and brainstorm and see how many people (whether you know their name or not) you come up with.
The mail carrier, your children's teacher(s), the school bus driver, your bank teller, the person that checks you out at the grocery store, your hair stylist, your neighbors, your friends...and the list goes on and on.
You should also be ready for those that you DON'T know! Notice, there are acts of kindness that you can do for those that you listed in the above paragraph but, when you talk about RANDOM acts of kindness, that means that it will include some that you will not know or that you will not necessarily be thinking about.
The opportunity will appear randomly.
I know a guy and his wife that was standing in line at a store behind a lady with two or three kids with her. As she stood at the check out counter and the cashier told her the total, she realized that she did not have the money to pay that amount. She began to frantically sort through her cart to see what she could leave behind in order to bring her total down when the guy stepped up to the counter and told the cashier to just put it on his credit card.
That, my friends, was a RANDOM act of kindness. Unplanned. Unexpected for all involved. Unknown, as in the total impact of that random act of kindness is still unknown to that man and his wife.
So, maybe we need to just talk about ACTS OF KINDNESS, both random and planned.
Change your world and watch the world around you change in return.
And, as always, it begins TODAY and it begins with YOU! Now, go get something started and, as you do so, be sure to...
"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

Get Out of Your Way!

The next time you find yourself banging your head against the wall, stop and take a look. You may very well find that you are banging your head against a mirror. If so, take a look in the mirror and you will find.........YOU.
Out of all of the roadblocks and detours that have slowed you down on the way to your goals and dreams, the one you likely did not expect is the one looking back at you in that mirror.
We don't expect that. We don't WANT to see that staring us back in the face. We don't WANT to even BEGIN to think that we could even POSSIBLY be a part of the problem.
It's every body else and every thing else!
But, yet, it is true that many times we end up finding out that WE are one of our biggest road blocks.
Yeah, us. Me and you.
Now, even though it is true that we need to guard our minds and lives from as much of the negative influences around us, many times WE still get in the way.
In order for us to stop the "I can't" and/or "I don't deserve this" mindset from taking root in our lives we must invest in as much positive material as possible. No matter what we remove from our lives, it is still up to US if we are to move on and not look back.
Sometimes we need to simply step aside, get out of the way and let our "natural, inner being" take over and take charge. LEAD THE WAY!
Stop talking yourself out of what can be an amazing life for yourself. Get out of the way and live the life that you were meant to live.
What are you waiting for? GET GOING and walk in the total belief that you CAN. (Because you really can!).
And, as you do so, be sure to...
"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

Focus On Your FUTURE

For whatever reason, we tend to "live in the past" and revisit the mistakes and "what if's" over and over again. You can never successfully move forward while looking back.
We must break our "rear-view mirror" mentality if we are to successfully move forward to and through our future.
Have you noticed? EVERY mirror in an automobile points to what has passed, what's behind. Your rear-view mirror that is right smack dab in the middle of the windshield is there for you to look behind you. The two mirrors on each door are also designed for the same reason. They are there for you to see what is behind you.
As useful and needful as these mirrors are for safety, one CAN NOT successfully drive forward if they continuously look at what has already passed. They will crash because they are focusing on the wrong thing and in the wrong direction.
We ALL have things in our past that we'd like to forget. Yet, we have a hard time forgetting them. Too, there are more than enough other people that are more than ready to remind us of those things if they think we are even THINKING of forgetting them! Separate yourself from these people.
We have all made mistakes. Sure, some of us have made more than others but here's the key: DID YOU LEARN FROM THOSE MISTAKES and HAVE YOU MOVED ON FROM THOSE MISTAKES?
If you have learned from those mistakes then you are NOT the same person and you can continue to improve and develop into the person that you wish to become. You ARE becoming that person when you learn from and move on from those mistakes. Do NOT ever forget that!
Yesterday is gone forever. Gone. Forever.
Live TODAY and live it as one who has learned - LEARNED - from the past. LEARN from the past but do not LIVE in the past!
Hey listen, that's one reason it's so important to fill you mind with as much positive material as possible - IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Doesn't it?
Keep moving forward one day at a time and one step at a time and always be sure to...
"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

People of Influence

In the United States, yesterday was celebrated as "Mothers Day" which, obviously, was a day dedicated to our Mothers and the influence they have had on our lives.
As in any situation, not all people can celebrate this influence due to the fact that some Mother's were not the positive and supportive influence that they should have been. However, sometimes even situations such as that can be turned around to where one can say, as I heard one man say about his Father,  "She taught me what kind of Mother NOT to be!".
Most of those that I saw post notices on social media were lifting their Moms up with praise for all that they had done for them during their life. That is the way it should be!
Next month, in June, we will celebrate Father's in the same way.
This got me to thinking about how many people actually influence our lives during the course of this journey on earth. There are many, are there not? And, as is the case with Mothers and Fathers, not all of them are the kind of influence that will direct us in a positive way.
I don't want to spend time on the negative. I don't want to spend time talking about the people in my life and yours that can influence us in a negative way. So, let's just assume that you and I are both smart enough to keep our eyes, ears and minds open to this and STAY AS FAR AWAY from such influence as possible.
Let's focus on those that have had a POSITIVE influence on our lives along the way.
Here is a great exercise for you to do on a continual basis that will help bring to mind such people in your life. Get out a piece of paper (or do this on your computer) and begin back as far as you can remember and think about those people that influenced you in a positive way and, you guessed it, WRITE THEM DOWN and also write down beside their name something that you remember about them. HOW did they influence you?
Why do I say do this on a continual basis? Well, for one, you may not can remember everyone at the same time. Your memory will be jogged just by beginning this process and, even when you aren't actively writing these things down, you will likely have a "flash memory" of someone else that you need to enter into this all-important listing.
Another reason that I say do this on a continual basis is to make note of those even now that are influencing your life in a positive way. Too often we just don't catch these moments of positive influence each day. However, by doing this exercise, our minds will be more open to recognizing and acknowledging these people. I would suggest getting into the habit of doing a daily journal (if you're not doing so already) and, as part of that daily entry, write down the names (and again the action) of a person that influenced you in a positive way during the day.
One final step to the exercise: If these people on your list are still alive, try to find a way to send them a nice thank you note and express to them how they influenced your life in a positive way. Notice I said send them a note. Emails and texts are nice but there is nothing like a hand written note that someone can hold on to and cherish. While you're at it, why not make a follow up phone call to make sure they received the note and take the opportunity to TELL them how they influenced your life.
The "Attitude of Gratitude"!
Who knows? There may be someone else reading this that will have YOU on THEIR list!
Be thankful for the positive influences in your life and express that thanks. And, as you go about this task, be sure to...

The Key to a Better Future

"The major key to your better future is you!" - Jim Rohn
Jim Rohn. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to hear him speak several times before he passed away. What a blessing and what a powerful man of influence.

The quote and topic for today comes from him and you can read it above. He said that, in this statement, you should emphasize the words "major" and "you" because those are the two words that are most important in the phrase.

I'm going ot give you a link at the end of today's blog article to his actual article on the subject but I want to share my own thoughts on this for now.

One of the things he says in this article (as well as the recordings on this topic) is to write this saying down on a piece of paper and place it somewhere that you will see it every day before you leave out to go about your day.

Before a move several years ago I had this placed right next to the front door so that I'd see it anytime that I left the house. It got put away in a box when we moved and stayed in that same box for several years. About a year ago I found it again and placed it (along with many other such great reminders) on my bulletin board and hung it up in my new "war room". The only problem is that, where it is now placed, I don't see it as easily and, as a result, I forget about it.

Yesterday I was looking over these items - I needed a mindset boost - and saw this familiar piece of paper again and thought, "YES! There's the reminder I need today!" and immediately sat down at my computer and found the graphic above and got my blog set up for me to work on today It was during that search for the graphic that I once again came across the article and even a short video of him talking about this topic.

YOU are the key ingredient in all that you desire!

You've heard me say this over and over again about moving forward in your quest to reach the goals and dreams you've set for yourself. It's a choice and YOU are the one that has to make that choice! No one else can do it for you.

But, it goes beyond that. It IS true that YOU are the only one that can make those choices in your life but YOU are also the key ingredient in what happens along the way.

Go back and read (or re-read) the article from yesterday. LISTEN to it on the podcast (I highly encourage you to do this EVERY day) and understand that YOU are THE reason that "it" WILL work and you WILL succeed!

I'm sure you have looked at people that just seem to have that "something" that causes everything to just "fall in their lap". You may have even called them "lucky" or even "the luckiest person in the world" because of these events.

However, have you ever considered the common denominator in all of those happenings with that person? THEY, themselves, were the common denominator! Maybe, just maybe, they weren't blessed with "luck" (and, really, luck had nothing to do with it) but, instead, they understood the importance of WHO they were and that THEY were the key ingredient to a better future.

That's's YOU friend!

No more excuses, no more blaming this and that. When you realize it's YOU that makes the difference, then you KNOW that you can achieve what you seek because you can handle "you". You can have "control" over this all-important factor. Can't you? SURE YOU CAN!

When you get a chance, read the article by Jim Rohn to get the full impact of what he has to say on the topic.

Don't ever forget that fact: YOU are the MAJOR key to a BETTER future!

And, as you go about your journey, be sure to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

The One Reason Why

We're all really good at coming up with dozens and dozens of "reasons" (excuses DISGUISED as reasons) why we can't accomplish something in our lives. And, if that's not enough, there are plenty of other people that surround us every day that are more than happy to add to that list for us.
We listen to all of those "reasons" (excuses DISGUISED as reasons) as to why we CAN'T and as to why something WON'T work instead of listening to the ONE reason as to why we CAN and as to why it WILL work!
Oh, there's more than one but I'm going to give you one MAIN reason before we're done here today.
We have talked a lot lately about the need to REMOVE and REPLACE those negative things and people from our lives that have devalued us, disrespected us and have thrown us nothing but left overs. We have allowed them to convince us that our worth and our value is dependent upon what THEY decide we are worth.
So, let's say you have decided to step out and away from this life and to move on to the life that you were created to have. You may still be standing in the same spot - frozen - afraid and believing that you CAN'T and that it WON'T work! And, likely, many - if not most - of these reasons are the exact things that you have heard and accepted for all of these years. You can't because you don't have the ability or you can't because you don't deserve it or.....
Or, let's say you have decided to go back to school to finally get that degree (or even high school diploma). You're in your 40's or 50's, your kids are all grown and you have decided to take that step, yet you find that you are still thinking about it and have begun to believe all of those "reasons" as to why you can't. You can't because you're older than everyone else or you can't because you're just too old and your brain won't allow you to study and remember or...
We could go on and on with examples but there is no need because I can almost promise that you've come up with SOMETHING that applies to you in your life RIGHT NOW - TODAY!
Are you ready to hear the ONE REASON as to why you CAN?  Are you ready to hear this ONE REASON and start NOT LISTENING to all of those so-called "reasons" as to why you can't and as to why it WON'T work?
Are you ready?
It's YOU.
YOU are the one reason that it WILL work! YOU are the one reason that you CAN accomplish whatever it is that you have a desire to accomplish in and with your life!
Yes, YOU!
For too long you've listened to those that have tried to convince you that YOU are the reason that you CAN'T do any of these things and, yet, I'm here to remind you of the fact that YOU are the very reason that you CAN and WILL accomplish these things!
Why do I say that so strongly? Because I believe strongly in what I have said before: YOU are made in the very image of God and GOD DOES NOT MAKE JUNK!
You are SPECIAL and of GREAT VALUE! You are remarkably made and have great talent and abilities! Yes, YOU!
Friend, that is THE one reason to combat all of those "reasons" that try to tell you that you can't and that "it" - whatever "it" is - WON'T work.
We'll talk even more about this with a quote from a great man that shared a lot of great thoughts like this...the late, Jim Rohn. Be sure to join me then but, UNTIL THAT TIME, be sure to...

Do NOT Leave The House Empty!

We've talked a lot about the need for change in our lives lately and, as part of that change, we've also talked a lot about the need to rid our lives of those things (and people) that devalue and disrespect us.
This is KEY when you get really serious about stepping out and living life as it as intended to be lived by you. If you have not done so, be sure to go back and read the blog and listen to the podcasts from last weeks series, "From Victim to Victor!". You'll be glad you did.
Let's talk about houses for a moment. Many times, when someone moves, they rent their house out to others while, at the same time, others will not. Sure, there could be a lot of potential problems with having someone else live in the house that you have taken care of in the past but, if you get the right person, it can actually be better for the house.
That's right. It is better for a house to be LIVED IN rather than to be left empty. You can do some research for yourself but, from what I understand, when a house is left empty it tends to "behave" differently than if people were in it. For one, without the heat or air conditioner on, the house either expands or contracts more with the weather than it does when one is in the house controlling the inside air temperature.
The longer a house is left empty the more likely it will be broken into and vandalized. It is also more likely to have unwelcomed "visitors" arrive such as mice, rats, birds and other "critters". Why? No one is there making noise to scare them away and, at the same time, your house is more likely to get glass broken in the windows as well as openings in different areas of the house.
I think I've talked about that enough to make the point that it is important to NOT leave a house empty!
So it is with YOU!
It is VERY important that, when you remove something harmful or negative from your life, you replace it with something helpful and positive. For example, if you decide your life would be better off if you stopped watching television completely, you had best find something to replace that void if you want to stick to your decision!
That is a BIG HOLE to fill and you need to do something else - especially at first when the "cold sweats" of going "cold turkey" are strongest. Do what the season allows: go walking, hiking, biking or read and/or anything else that you can do that will enrich your life more than sitting in front of a television screen.
See what I mean? One more: when you quit smoking, you MUST have something to replace that habit. For my Dad, many years ago when he stopped smoking, he would suck on LifeSavers. I loved it because I always got some too!
If you rid your life of the negative people that have done nothing but weigh you down with their disrespect and giving you nothing but left overs, it is IMPORTANT that you replace them with people that will do just the opposite - build you up, lift you up and feed you POSITIVE input!
The longer you leave that space empty, the more likely you will allow that same thing (or people) to fill that void.
You DO NOT want ANYTHING back in your "house" that will cause damage and that will "open the door" to other damaging inhabitants.
Got it?
Fill your "house" with love, support and all things good. And, as you do so, be sure to...
"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

Lies KILL Relationships!

Lies destroy. Lies hurt. Lies kill.
Yeah, I am getting straight to the point and I'm hitting this one hard.
Believe the Bible or not, that is up to you, but here are a couple of things it has to say about lying: "the a liar and the father of it." (John 8:44) and, again, in reference to the devil, in John 10:10 it says, "...does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy...".
Again, believe it or not, but the main point I want to make with that is that LYING IS EVIL and is bent on DESTRUCTION.
It doesn't matter what level of relationship you want to consider, LIES KILL RELATIONSHIPS!
I really want you to encourage you to seriously consider this. No, I'm not going to get into this senseless discussion of "little white lies" and all of that other silliness that so many want to waste time with - LET'S GET REAL.

We ALL hate it when we feel that we have been taken advantage of by some salesperson due to them telling us a lie or lies in order to get us to buy some product. We will complain to anyone that will listen to how angry we are at this injustice.
And you should be.
But, think about this - that person doesn't even know you. No matter how much they want to try to convince you that they have your best interest at heart, they don't know you and they don't have much of a relationship to you or with you. YES, it is still wrong for them to lie to you and to be deceitful. BUT HELP ME OUT ON THIS - why then, do we treat those that we DO have close relationships with such abandon and lack of care by lying or accepting lies?
Lying shows a lack of HONOR and RESPECT for a person. There is NO honor or respect when there is the existence of lies.
We talked about the idea of being devalued by others. This is a prime example. PAY ATTENTION.
When you lie to another individual (and I don't really care if it's a customer or your best friend or your spouse) you DEVALUE that person and you also DISRESPECT that person!
When you allow others to lie to you and, even once you discover this habit, you allow that practice to continue, YOU are ALLOWING and ACCEPTING that persons DEVALUATION and DISRESPECT of you.
"For every good reason there is to lie, there is a better reason to tell the truth." - Bo Bennett
And, we've likely all heard this quote from Sir Walter Scott: "Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive."
Relationships - at ANY level - matter.
Treat them that way and see what happens in your life and in the lives of those around you.
And, as you do so, be sure to...
"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you) "
