What Will Be Your "Harvest"?

What kind of seed do you plant if you want an apple tree? Corn? Of course not, if you plant corn, you will get corn. If you want to get an apple tree, you plant an apple seed, right?

SIMPLE.

So it is with what we wish to "harvest" in and with our lives, friend.

As always, the choice is mine and yours. It is our choice as to what we plant but, know this: we will reap (harvest) what we sow (plant).

Notice the quote above from Earl Nightingale: "Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality."

What is our subconscious mind? I came up with this analogy in the podcast and I think it's pretty good and easy to understand. Have you ever been around a young child that was learning to talk? You don't think much about what you say because this child has not been talking and you have not been made aware of what the child is actually hearing. And then, one day, the child repeats something back that you have said and you are shocked and embarrassed! The child has simply repeated what it has heard. The child does not understand the meaning or the intent behind the words.

So it is with your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind will pick up whatever you say and do - good or bad and will repeat it back to you. YIKES!

This is really not that hard to understand but it IS hard to change and it is hard to stay consistent (repetitious) with as well.

If you plant negativity into your subconscious mind and you nourish that "seed" with repetition, day in and day out, and emotion (anger, frustration, depression, hopelessness), then your harvest will BE a life of this negativity. You can't expect a peaceful life by planting and nourishing negativity.

The other side of the issue is true as well. I say on my podcast everyday that I believe that "Your greatest education takes place on the campus of your mind." It is of key importance that we all do everything within our power to plant nothing but good and positive thoughts into our subconscious mind.

When we plant that good seed and we nourish or water that seed repeatedly and with the emotions that go along with that seed (peace, happiness, joy) then we will reap the benefits of a life of peace, happiness and joy. Such is the harvest from this kind of seed!

So, again, it is up to you! Don't get upset when you plant squash and you get squash. Don't get upset when you plant negative thoughts and feelings and that is what you receive in the "harvest".

I'm here to help as much as I can with this blog and the podcast. Fill your mind - plant as much as you can - of this kind of "seed" and see what kind of fruit comes from such activity.

Get busy "farmer"!

And, as you do so, be sure to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

I WILL Take Steps on This Journey TODAY!

#6: "I WILL Take Steps on This Journey TODAY!"
Daily affirmations are a wonderful thing and something that I believe can help set us up with the right mental attitude as we begin each day.
Yes, sometimes what we say is not quite 100% true - YET! However, by repeating these things over and over again we can convince our subconscious mind that it IS indeed, true and then our subconscious mind will begin to feed it back to us as truth. Pretty amazing, isn't it?
So, even in our daily affirmations, we must ACT upon them! What do I mean? Well, let's take a quick look back on what we have talked about and apply it to each of the affirmations so far.
1. I AM Somebody SPECIAL! -- How do you act on that? LIVE it as if you BELIEVE it! Yes, I do understand that sometimes we don't feel special. However, we must begin to do our best to act and live with the knowledge that we ARE somebody special. It does take work and it does take action on our part! One of the ways we can do this is by doing exactly what you're doing right now - putting positive influences into our daily activities!
2. I AM ABLE to Accomplish GREAT Things! -- Again, we must put into practice this belief! Don't "wish" that you were able - KNOW that you ARE able! Why? Again, this one is tied directly back to the first affirmation - because you are somebody special! There is no one else like you and you are a mighty creation! "Great things" can have a lot of different meanings - what does it mean for YOUR life? Start making it happen in your life - don't just talk about it and wait for someone to knock on your door and ask you to fill some great role in our society. YOU CREATE IT AND DO IT IN YOUR OWN LIFE!
3. I AM ABLE to Touch and Change Many Lives for the Better! -- Again, stop talking about it and start doing it! Yes, say this daily as part of your daily routine - but then make sure you put action behind it by being aware of the opportunities that surround you and DOING something about them and with them! How many have passed you by already on this day as you read this?
4. I Will Not Allow ANYONE to Determine the Size of My Dreams - THEY ARE MINE! -- What's the action here? Believe it to the point that you begin to live it. How? Well, for one, take a look back at the third affirmation! If you truly believe that you can change many lives for the better - do it and don't worry about those doubters that tell you that you can't! You don't have to prove anything to anyone else! These are YOUR dreams and YOU are the one that will make them happen in your life, right? RIGHT!
5. I AM a Giver - Not a Taker! -- Again, don't just say the words, but actively pursue making this a reality in your life. One day at a time. And, yes, once again, look for the opportunities that come before you during this one day and seize the moment to be a giver in those situations!
So, you see, it is important for us to make sure we take steps on the journey of our daily affirmations! We can talk about this, repeat this and even memorize this BUT, if we don't ever move on to DOING them - they really don't mean much, do they?
Now, in the podcast, I take a whole completely different approach to this affirmation. It deals with our responsibility of moving toward our goals and dreams each and every day. Again, one day at a time.
One day - that's all we have! So, make the progress that you can make today (don't sell yourself short on this one!). Take the steps that you can take today but make sure you take them TODAY!
I often have told you that the blog and the podcast often have different thoughts in them since they are done at two different times. This is one of those times and I want to encourage you to be sure to listen to the podcast too and soak in the thoughts that I share there.
Here's a teaser: Are your dreams "show dreams" or are they the kind that can drive you into your future? Check it out!
And, as you put these daily affirmations into practice on a daily basis...
"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

Today is "Magical"! (Part 2)

In yesterday's podcast and blog entry we talked about "5 Things That Make Today MAGICAL!" and covered - in detail - the first three points. I wanted to spend a little more time on the last two of these points so that we can give the the attention and detail that they need in order to be of help in our daily journey.
As a way of quick review, the first 3 points were:
1.It's a NEW DAY - never before (same job, etc. - but a new day)
2. Although you cannot UNDO the past, you can DO today!
3. There will NEVER be ANOTHER today -- once gone, it's gone forever (so DO it today!)
And now, let's finish up with the last two points as to what makes TODAY "MAGICAL"!
4. Today has an impact on ALL of your TOMORROWS!

Although we cannot go back and "redo" or "undo" what we have done in the past, we can live today KNOWING that what we do today (remember, we can "do" today!) will have an impact on all of our tomorrows! We don't have to settle for the "same old thing" in our lives - regardless of what remains the same!

Tired of your job? Hopefully, you have been making strides in improving your attitude so that you can approach this differently or maybe you have been making strides to make a change in your life sometime in the "not-too-distant" future. For many people that are wanting and moving toward change, it becomes increasingly difficult to "put up" with what we have become dissatisfied with --- our everyday job and routine. (This can be true of so many things in our life that have not changed, including our relationships).

Here's the thing to remember: even if our surroundings do not chance - WE can change! We have the ability - through our changed and improved mindset - to change our approach and our outlook TODAY! Understanding that what we do today will - without a doubt - impact our tomorrow SHOULD help us approach today with a whole new - and improved - mindset!

When we understand - as has already been pointed out - that there has never been a TODAY and there will never be another TODAY (specifically by date!) then we come to realize how important and what a precious commodity today really is! IT IS TO BE VALUED and cherished!

Are you following me on this journey even since I began the podcast on this topic? When I recorded the podcast it was Sunday evening, December 13th. It was posted for airing for Monday, December 14th and I wrote the initial blog entry on Monday, December 14th. Those days are GONE FOREVER! And, now, I am finishing up my thoughts on another day - Tuesday, December 15, 2009.

One thing I had always heard and now, as I get older, find to be true is the idea that time seems to go by so much faster than before! I just turned 50 in early November - how did THAT happen?

What impact will you make on your TOMORROW, today? You WILL make an impact one way or another - know that to be true. It is up to YOU as to what kind of impact you make.

5. You have the ability to CHOOSE how you DO today!

Then last few thoughts of point 4 lead us to this one - we all have the ability to CHOOSE how we "DO" today! Think about how magical that really is!

For many of us, there are many things in our lives that we do not have control over. If you work then there are certain things that you have no control over at all - what time you have to be at work, what time you get to eat lunch, what time you get to go home, when you can be sick, when you can take vacation - just to name a few.

But again - and DO NOT miss this point! - we still have the ability to have control over our minds, our mindset and how we CHOOSE to "do" today! As was mentioned in points 3 and 4, we still have the ability - even in a world of "sameness" - to live each day differently than before. Why? Because today IS different than before!

Will you settle for just "going through the motions" through yet another day? Will you settle for having the same negative mindset as so many around you as you go through your day? OR will you apply what you know to be true and helpful in your life and allow your positive subconscious mind to kick in and help you LIVE LIFE in a NEW AND POWERFUL way?

Let me remind you again to take a quick glimpse at the clock. What time is it right now? For me, as I type this, it is 9:59 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2009. The only "today" there will ever be! And, as I look at the clock I see that ten hours of this day has already passed! GONE FOREVER! I have fourteen hours left in this precious time slot of my life and the lives of those around me - WHAT WILL I DO WITH WHAT IS LEFT?

It is up to me! No one else!

Yes, we "allow" others to have influence and impact on our lives - but notice the word, "allow"! NO ONE ELSE can actually control how you live your life! NO ONE ELSE can actually cause you to have a bad day or to live your day in a foul mood! NO ONE - but you!

What will YOU choose? What DO you choose?

Feel the magic! Be thrilled by the magic of the moment! Let it exhilarate you and let it spur you on to "DOING" today like no other -- because, in fact, there has been nor will there ever be another.

And, as you continue to do so....

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

Mike
