Results INSPIRE

Over the years, as I have checked into several different "home based business opportunities", I have always asked ONE question right from the start - "What are YOUR results?" Oh, listen, I know for a fact that anyone that is "recruiting" someone new to their business HATES that question and it's a question that THEY bring up to the person that recruited them: "What do I say if I don't have any results yet?"

Now, please understand that this is MY view on this and you sure don't have to agree with me. I know, for a fact, that those involved in "recruiting" don't agree with me on this and, again, that's o.k. I know that, when a "new recruit" is asked that question and they don't yet have any results, they are told to talk about someone else's results. I get it. I really do. But, for me, I want to know what results THAT person has had and - again, just my take on this - if they don't have any results to share then they shouldn't be trying to recruit anyone else. I hear you but, let me say again, that's MY view about it, o.k.?

RESULTS INSPIRE. But, in my opinion, they need to be PERSONAL results for it to really matter.

I've shared my story with you on several occasions about losing 100 pounds over the course of thirteen months way back in 2003. Guess what? I didn't have to talk about someone else's results when mine were right there in front of them to see for themselves. On the other hand, if I had been trying to get people to buy into this weight loss plan and I, personally, had not had ANY results to share then, who would have thought it was a good program?

RESULTS INSPIRE.

Hey friend, it's the same way with the idea of PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT. Your journey to develop a "better" version of yourself can, indeed, inspire others. If those that have consistent contact with you see a change in your attitude and mindset then, guess what? They would be more open to listening to you if you encourage them to try to develop a positive mindset in and for their own lives.

Yet, at the same time, you need to understand this fact: THEY ARE WATCHING YOU! And, if they hear you "promoting" personal development and a positive mindset and they have seen NO change in your attitude and mindset then, guess what? They will treat you like the hypocrite that you are. That doesn't mean that you will ALWAYS be "on" and never have a bad day or moment but it DOES mean that, overall, there has been a change in your life.

What are YOUR results? Don't forget, RESULTS INSPIRE.

Hey, if you would, be sure to also listen to the podcast and watch the video that goes along with today's topic. The links can be found below.

And, until next time, whatever you do, always be sure to...

Inspired to Inspire

"You Can't Give What You Don't Have!"

I believe that a majority of people have a desire to inspire others. But, at the same time, I would also suggest that a majority of people don't know HOW to inspire others.

It's really fairly simple - or, at least STATING the solution is fairly simple. "Be Inspired, Inspire Others" or, as the title says, we must be "Inspired to Inspire". And, yes, still yet: "You Can't Give What You Don't Have."

Get the point? One must first HAVE inspiration in order to share that inspiration and, at the same time, inspire others.

Here's a simple example that may make it even clearer. Let's say that you have a desire to share some grain that you have with others. Perhaps it's been a very harsh year and many of those around you are struggling. But, when you go to your barrel of grain you notice that there is barely enough grain in the barrel to cover the bottom. This creates a dilemma in that now you have to decide to give a little more (and very little at that) to one or two people OR to give a little less to maybe three or four people.

However, if you go to your grain barrel and the grain is full and spilling out onto the floor around the barrel then you have the ability to help a larger group of people with a larger amount of grain! What you have will determine what you are able to give and share.

Who - or what - inspires you?

Perhaps it is the beauty of God's creation around you or the beautiful laughter of a baby. Maybe even the unconditional love of a pet. What have you read that has inspired you? Maybe you find inspiration in Scripture or maybe there are certain authors that have inspired you. I know that there have been many authors that I have read that have really inspired me in the area of doing all that I can to work on myself and protect a positive mindset. To be honest, some of those, I don't even remember their names but, at the same time, there are some of the "greats" such as Jim Rohn, Zig Ziglar and Bob Proctor among others.  Every blog article that I've ever written can be found in this blog. Hopefully you can be inspired by some of the things you find and read here.

This doesn't mean that you have to be in some major leadership or management position to inspire others. When you become inspired you become like that barrel that is overflowing with grain. You cannot help BUT share inspiration - and you can do it without being annoying!

Just simply live an inspired life.

As you do so, always be sure to...

People Worth Meeting (3)

Interesting Person #3

There is ONE major difference in my introduction of "Interesting Person #3"...I never had the opportunity to meet him. I've never had a conversation with him and I've never even seen him in person.

However, you likely will recognize his name and, like many, you likely have been touched and inspired even in his recent death. He definitely fits the title of "People Worth Meeting" or at least, in this situation, "People Worth Noting"...the late Stuart Scott.

Now, before I go any further, let me say this... If you have never listened to any of the podcasts, THIS would be a great one to begin with. You can do so by going HERE for the podcast on iTunes and HERE for the RSS feed. I think you will be encouraged by the message and the passion that you cannot get through a written article.

I'm calling Mr. Scott, "Mr. Live Life Today" for the sake of consistency in these articles.

I'm not going to focus on his work history with ESPN, but I know you will likely recognize a couple of his well-known catch phrases, such as "Booya!" and "Cooler than the other side of the pillow". However, he likely became even more well-known and beloved through a speech that he made at the 2014 ESPY Awards in which he was awarded the "Jimmy V Award" (you can read up on all of this for yourself).

Probably one of the most often quoted and shared lines out of that epic speech was when Mr. Scott ("Mr. Live Life Today") said this:

"When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live and the manner in which you live."

Friend, this is how you beat ANY THING! I'm not taking away from what was said in ANY way. Instead, I am using this great thought to encourage you to apply this principle to EVERY area of your life!

HOW you live will greatly be determined by WHY you live! (Go back to the last series and notice the importance of your "WHY")

But, here's the key - LIVE LIFE TODAY AND EVERY DAY!

Don't let life "pass you by"! It's easy to do by getting wrapped up in trivial matters that tend to distract us all from what is important and what is around us each and every day!

Thank you Stuart Scott - "Mr. Live Life Today" - for these inspiring words that will live on for years and years to come.

And for you, friend...take these words and apply them to YOUR life and to every area of your life! Don't let these inspirational words become words that simply make you feel good but, instead, allow these words to inspire you to ACTION.

Share this article, listen to and share the podcast with as many as you can - TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO INSPIRE OTHERS!

Until next time, always be sure to...

What Successful People Build

I'm not sure why more people don't understand this idea, but more sure need to!

When one hates, blames and complains they live in a vicious cycle. Think about it: those that are in "leadership" positions that conduct themselves this way do not get the results that are needed in order for them to be successful. Then, as a result of the disappointment and frustration of not being as successful as they would like, they increase their hate, blame and complaining which, in turn, makes it even worse.

Yeah, I know. How did people like this get in a leadership position in the first place and why do these people STILL get promoted at times? I really don't understand that myself but, this I DO know. They can get promoted BUT they will NEVER be as successful as they could be if the would conduct themselves on the "other side" of this equation.

Whether you are around to see it or not, these people WILL fail and they WILL fall. Sooner or later, it WILL happen.

So, enough of that. Let's look to what SUCCESSFUL people build.

Sure, they may build buildings and big businesses BUT, first and foremost, they build PEOPLE!

Notice what the graphic points out: they motivate, inspire and push each other along (in a POSITIVE way). They build each other up!

You KNOW that this works, don't you? Don't YOU want to work harder with/for people like this? Doesn't this type of person cause you want to GIVE your best, DO your best and BE your best?

OF COURSE THEY DO!

That's why they are successful and they, too, are in a cycle but, not the same type of vicious cycle that those on the unsuccessful side experience. Those that are successful by conducting themselves in this way live in a continuous cycle of promotion, positivity and progress.

"Yeah, but I treat people that way and I'm not successful like them!"

Sure, you may not be in the same position that they are, but know this:
     - You ARE successful buy living this way and treating others in this way
     - Don't forget that they did not get where they are in a single day
     - "Success" can have many different meanings in life

Bottom line, it's just a better way to live (and it's more fun, too!).

So, build the way SUCCESSFUL people build and be sure to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

Inspire Others

We talked about leaders vs. followers in the last blog entry and, today, we continue with some more thoughts on leaders.

John Quincy Adams sums it up pretty well, wouldn't you agree?

Just because people "follow" you doesn't make you a leader! Yes, it's true in our current world of social media but it also applies in actual, physical situations.

You may be a boss that has many people follow your instructions but, friend, that does NOT make you a leader. It makes you a boss.

Can you be a boss AND a leader at the same time? Sure you can...just re-read the graphic above and answer that question for yourself.

I had a "boss" not too long ago that actually told a group of new employees one day that he didn't care about them. It was really quite confusing because in one breath he would talk about how much this company would take care of their employees and then, in the next breath, he said, "I don't care about you. I don't care anything at all about you. I pay - you do!"

Guess what? He didn't get much - if any - respect from his employees. He did NOTHING to inspire and, in big part due to his actions, this company has several billboards that ALWAYS indicate that this company is hiring.

You know why? No one is staying!

Here's the kicker: there ARE some leaders that work there IN SPITE OF this guy at the helm. They actually DO inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more. These leaders are not afraid to encourage those that listen to step away from this job that will bring in "decent" wages and take on bigger and more rewarding challenges.

Again, having followers does NOT make you a leader.

Who are YOU following? Are you being inspired?

And you, Mr. "Leader" (or so you may think)....do you fit the criteria set at the beginning of this article today by Mr. Adams?

If not, why not make a change and see what is possible in YOUR life and in the lives of those that you can lead?

It's up to you. It's your choice.

Here's to those that actually LEAD and INSPIRE....thank you.

For each of us along the journey, always remember to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

Give Up or Get Up?

Give Up or Get Up?

Here we are again talking about CHOICE.

YOUR choice to either give up and settle for less OR to get up and follow your dreams.

Even when you think you CAN'T (go back to yesterday's message) you still have a choice.

"Oh, but you don't know me, I'm not making excuses, I have a really good reason...."

NO, you don't.

Again, go back to yesterday's message and check out the two people I mentioned there. And, while you are at it, add Dennis Walters to your list. Read about him here:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/04/07/eveningnews/main6372899.shtml

Yeah, I'm pretty adamant about this - contact any of these people (along with many others) and tell them what your "reason" is as to why you CAN'T do something. Really. Go ahead and see what they have to tell you.

Please understand that I DO understand that some people have more negative things stacked against them than others.

However, the fact remains that you can still RISE ABOVE anything - ANYTHING - in your life if you are determined to do so.

It just depends on how badly you want to get up and follow your dreams.

And, yes, just like in the story about Mr. Walters in the link above - sometimes your dreams take a different route, but you ARE resilient enough to change course and still survive, thrive and succeed!

Aren't you?

Sure you are!

So, what will YOU do?

Give up and settle for less?

or....

GET UP and FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS?

You can do it... GO FOR IT!

And, as you do..."Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"
