Positive, Patient and Persistent

Short and to the point today.

I hope that all of you understand the importance of remaining POSITIVE as we go along this journey called life. You do, right?

Not only does it make a big difference in OUR lives, but it also makes an impact - yes, a POSITIVE impact - on those around us. Many times we may never know what our positive attitude has done for someone else that has crossed our path through the course of a day.

And, thought it's not always easy, I would think that most of us also understand the importance of being PATIENT even as we strive to remain positive. Seriously!

For me, the testing of my patience will often determine whether I keep a positive attitude or if I allow my attitude to take a negative turn. IT'S MY CHOICE. But, wow, I have always tended to be an impatient person and it is literally, a daily struggle. Yes, I am much better than I used to be but, at the same time, I have a long ways to go!

What about you?

So, maybe we can even say it this way: "Stay POSITIVE so that you can practice PATIENCE."

Now, here's the kicker, friend. In order for us to be successful with either remaining positive or patient, it is going to demand - yes, DEMAND - that we be PERSISTENT!

Attempting improvement in anything - ANYTHING - by attempting that improvement for only a short period of time will NEVER bring about that improvement. Make sense?

You will never achieve IMPROVEMENT in anything unless you are PERSISTENT in your pursuit of that improvement. You can't quit or give up early.

Nope.

You MUST push on even when you give like giving up. Patience, remember?

Remaining persistent is where many fall short and fail.

How determined - how PERSISTENT - are you in achieving whatever it is that you have set out to achieve in and for your life?

The 3 P's of Improvement: Positive, Patient, Persistent

You CAN accomplish what you desire through this process, friend. But don't you DARE, EVER GIVE UP.

Remember, as you continue to "push through" each and every day, always be sure to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

The 3 P's of Success

Success can have a wide range of definitions and mean different things to different people. However, regardless of what it means for you, this applies in every way.

Whatever area it is in which you are looking to achieve success, these "3 P's" are an absolute must:
     1. Positive
     2. Patient
     3. Persistent

First of all, if you allow yourself to get negative, to fall into negativity, then you will struggle in whatever it is that you seek success. THAT, my friend, IS A FACT! Keeping a POSITIVE attitude about whatever it is that you are doing will help keep you FOCUSED and MOVING FORWARD!

A positive attitude will help you maintain a "can do" approach verses a negative, "CAN'T do" approach.

Listen friend, it is EASY to LOOSE your positive attitude very quickly! That's why it is so important to invest DAILY in this area by listening to and/or reading as much as you can throughout each and every day.

Secondly, you must be PATIENT! I've said it before but let me repeat: Reaching your goals (whatever they may be) will more than likely take you LONGER than you first thought that it would. You must be PATIENT and allow "things" to work together to achieve results. Many times our lack of patience will actually sabotage our efforts without us even realizing what happened.

Patience does NOT mean that you just sit back and wait for things to happen. NOT EVEN CLOSE! Patience is allowing things to work AS YOU CONTINUE TO WORK!

Which means that you must also be PERSISTENT. Yes, you must be patient but you MUST keep working while you do so. You must CONTINUE - be persistent - as you patiently await for the "harvest" of the "seeds" that have been planted  in whatever area it is that you are working.

Again, remember that it is DIFFICULT before it's EASY and too many people give up just before they break through that barrier.

Hey, by the way, make sure that you also listen to the podcast (links below) that go along with this. Even though they are on the same topic as the blog, they are recorded at a different time and there is not a script that is used. That means that you will hear similar but different thoughts there. It's like a 2-for-1 scenario!

So remember to be POSITIVE, PATIENT and PERSISTENT as you work your way toward the success which you seek.

And, as you do so, be sure to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

Starting Over...Again

Hey! It's "Turn-Around Tuesday!" Be sure to listen to today's podcast to find out the significance of this "tag" for today!

On your mark...get set....GO!

FALSE START! Line up and do it all over again.

Board game...roll the dice...move six spaces...space says, "GO BACK TO START!".

On a bit of a more serious note, perhaps you or someone you know had their life savings set back in a way that they thought was "secure" only to find out that it had all been wiped out or "swindled" away. Time to start all over after years of saving and putting back.

"I do...regardless of sickness, health, poverty and/or wealth...until death do us part!" Scenario one: the person standing across from you had other ideas of what the phrase "until death do us part" and they decided to bail on your marriage at the first hint or sign of struggle. Scenario two: Death IS what "parted" the relationship between the two of you and, regardless of how long the two of you had been married - like in scenario one - now you look at having to start life all over again without that person by your side.

You've planned out your path to achieve your goals and dreams and have even set a time-line only to find that time come and go without you reaching your intended result....START OVER.

You start over and "tweak" things a bit thinking you figured out where you went wrong and what you need to do to finally reach those goals and dreams only to find yourself "coming up short" once again...START OVER AGAIN!

And again. And again. And again. And again.

Question: How many times will YOU "start over" before giving up?

Question: Do you see yourself a failure because you had to start over? If not the first time, how many times do you start over before you begin to feel this way?

Question: How many times in your life have you EVER reached success the very first time you tried something that required quite a bit of effort, skill and knowledge? (I think I can answer that one for you - LIKELY, NEVER!).

So, here we are in the middle of the first month of 2012 and, perhaps, you ARE starting over for the _____th time.

So what?

The main thing is that you have NOT given up! When you get "knocked down" you can either GIVE UP or GET UP!

The choice is yours! Do you get that? The choice is YOURS and not someone else's.

Stop listening to the naysayers and the doomsday words of those that likely never attempt to "step out of the box" to better themselves. Stop listening to those that tell you that you should "give up" because, "After all, you've had to start over two or three times!".

SO WHAT?

If it's important to you and if it's of value to you - WHY GIVE UP BECAUSE YOU HAD TO START OVER?

Don't. Keep going. Keep moving. Never, ever give up.
And, as you do so, be sure to...
"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)

Quitters NEVER Win!

Quitters NEVER Win!

Yes, I know you've heard the saying before: "Quitters never win and winners never quit!" - but it's true!

It is literally IMPOSSIBLE for you (or anyone) to WIN when they QUIT! Quitting puts you "out of the game" it takes you "out of the race" and it puts you on the sidelines.

You have heard me say many times in the past that the only time that one truly becomes a failure is when they quit! Failing to meet your goals does not make you a failure! Making mistakes DOES NOT make you a failure!

QUITTING MAKES YOU A FAILURE!

Quitting flies in the face of one of my sayings that I use a lot in my podcasts: "As long as there is breath there is hope!"

"Oh, but I can still get back in the game at a later time, right?"

Sure you can. But, it is very likely that you will quit again.

Why do I say that? Because we are creatures of habit!

If it is your HABIT to QUIT - you will quit again. However, if it is your HABIT to FIGHT and NEVER GIVE UP - you will fight and you will never give up!

Our lives are lives of HABIT! Just think about your morning routine - go through it in your mind right now. Don't you tend to do the same thing every morning in your preparation for work?

Many of us even have BAD habits! Perhaps it biting our fingernails or smoking or overeating or many other numerous bad habits. You've probably also heard this saying, haven't you? "The best way to break a bad habit is to drop it!"

So it is with the habit of quitting. STOP IT and DROP IT!

You see, since the thought, "As long as there is breath there is hope!" is true then it is true that you CAN change this habit - BREAK IT - and continue on with your pursuit regardless of how difficult it becomes.

Yes, you CAN change the habit of quitting which means you then change your "loser mentality" which, in turn, improves your whole mindset!

And YOU CAN WIN!

IF (that's a might big word for only two letters, isn't it?) you don't quit.

IF you determine to never give up!

IF you are persistent and determined!

IF you continue to feed your positive mindset!

It's all up to you. It's YOUR choice. But there is always help along the way - such as this blog and my podcast. Take advantage of resources such as this and NEVER EVER QUIT!

And, all along the way, be sure to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

Don't Give Up!

Don't Give Up - Don't Give In!

My blog entry today is going to be a little shorter than normal. I am currently in Springfield, MO. on Wednesday night preparing for a BIG DAY tomorrow at the Get Motivated! Seminar and I am STOKED to be able to be a part of this great event!

So, I am at a friends house on their computer trying to get some of these things done that I didn't have time to finish earlier today.

So, for today, as we look at the letter "D" in our "Positive Alphabet" we want to consider the thought, "Don't Give Up - Don't Give In!"

You have heard me say it this way many times: "Never Give Up! Never Give In! Never Surrender!"

THIS IS A KEY AND VITAL POINT IN ANY AREA WHICH YOU DESIRE GROWTH AND SUCCESS!

You simply CANNOT reach your dreams and your goals if you quit!

Pretty simple concept, huh?

Think about it. How CAN you reach them if you quit before you do?

Many people have quit just before walking through an opened door of opportunity - don't let that be true of you.

Yes, sometimes you may have to take a different path (remember the detour?) or an alternate route - BUT DO NOT EVER GIVE UP!

Regardless.

Always be moving toward your dreams and goals...each day brings you one step closer as long as you keep moving in that direction!

And, with that my friends...as always I want to encourage each of you to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

It's NEVER Too Late!

I apologize for not getting this up yesterday- things are really busy and I just didn't get it done. Simple as that!

Do you ever have days like that? Sure you do! So again (I try to find points in just about everything I put on here so here is another one!), remember that, even though you may not get something done at exactly the right time - keep working and get it done! That doesn't make you a failure! (That being said, it doesn't work that way on the job, does it? If you have guidelines and deadlines - discipline yourself to get it done!).

Now, to the point of the message from Monday's podcast - "It's NEVER Too Late!".

Over the weekend I finally watched the movie, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" - the movie that starred Brad Pitt as a man that was born old and, as the years went by, got younger. This is an interesting movie with a lot of good points in it and I would recommend it for your viewing pleasure.

I could probably spend a whole month talking about different things from the movie - but I won't! Instead I wanted to share one main thought that I came away with from this movie and it's a thought that was shared near the end. Here it is:

"It's never too late to start over and, actually, it's never too early."

Do you agree? Do you live your life in agreement with that statement? You see, it's one thing to SAY that we agree and then it's a different thing altogether as to whether or not we believe it to the point of LIVING our lives in accordance to that stated belief.

For many of us - we give up too soon. We tend to place great emphasis on the number that signifies our age. You may say, "Well, I'm 40 years old - it's too late for me to do __________ (fill in the blank)".

Really? Is it really too late?

"I've messed up and, at my age, I'll never be able to recover from that mistake."

Really? Do you really not have the ability to recover? Think about that.

Now, let me say this. Sure, I understand that, financially, someone could mess up and lose their life savings and, yes, not be able to recover what was saved over a lifetime. But even in a situation such as that - will you just give up and cease to live? NO!

Do you really know anyone that lives a life free of mistakes? I can answer that for you with certainty - NO, YOU DON'T!

So, the question is not, "IF" I will make a mistake - but "WHEN" and "WHAT".

"WHEN I make a mistake - even a big one - WHAT will I do about it?"

This is key to our living of life.

For those of us that are "older" (what does that mean anyway?) this is so important to grasp! IT'S NEVER TOO LATE!

For example, I'm 49 years old (will turn 50 on November 3) and I am working on taking my life in a whole new direction. Is it scary - YES! Do I have my doubts at time - YES! But is it too late for me to do so - NO!

Remember my phrase that I came up with months ago and that I use regularly - "As long as there is breath there is hope!"

This is true!

Do you need to go back to school and take some courses? IT'S NEVER TOO LATE!
Do you need to change your path on saving for your financial future? IT'S NEVER TOO LATE!
Do you need to change your attitude and mindset? IT'S NEVER TOO LATE!

Let's stop using this as an excuse and LIVE the day (TODAY) that we have been given!

And, on the other hand - IT'S NEVER TOO EARLY!

My goodness - if I had known then what I know now....

How many of us could say this? Probably all of us.

So, all I can do now is say this to those that are younger - NOW IS THE TIME TO LIVE AND TRY NEW THINGS! When you are younger - you have the ability and the opportunity to do so with much more time to "recover" or take a different approach. Don't be afraid to follow your passion and see where it takes you. If you mess up or discover that it is not the path you want to follow after all - IT'S NEVER TOO EARLY TO START OVER!

-----------------------------
Now, on a somewhat different train of thought -- I am still amazed at how things work. I have shared with you how I am behind on my reading of SUCCESS magazine. And, yet, it seems that I am reading what I am supposed to be reading at this time. Do you know what I mean?

Interestingly, it also seems to be working that way with some of the movies that I have been watching lately. The one I mentioned in this article along with "Marley & Me" that I begin to discuss in my podcast for Tuesday and that I will center my next blog article around.

These things seem to be "intertwined" - and for a purpose!

Pay attention to the "little things" in your life and see if you don't find the same thing. I do believe that if you will open up your mind to these things that you, too, will see a "pattern" that works together for things that YOU NEED TO HEAR and/or SEE for you life right now!

Think about it...open your eyes....see and learn.

Until next time, friends -

PERSISTENCE Brings SUCCESS!

This is a FACT! There is PROOF of this being true!

One of the things I LOVE about the Napoleon Hill book, "Think & Grow Rich" which we are using in our podcast discussions, is that he gives SPECIFIC guidelines and suggestions for us to follow IF we are serious about moving forward with our plans.

Again, are you PERSISTENT enough to follow through and KEEP following through on these?

Here is proof of this very thing in chapter 8. He gives FOUR (yes, only four!) steps to follow with the following heading:

HOW TO DEVELOP PERSISTENCE
1. Have a DEFINITE PURPOSE backed by a BURNING DESIRE to see it through!
2. Have a DEFINITE PLAN that is expressed through CONTINUOUS ACTION!
3. Have a mind CLOSED TIGHTLY against NEGATIVE and DISCOURAGING INFLUENCES!(even those from family and friends)
4. Have a FRIENDLY ALLIANCE with one or more people who will ENCOURAGE you to FOLLOW THROUGH on both your PLAN and your PURPOSE!
Now, I paraphrased these a little - but the main focus and point is still there. Do you want to learn how to develop persistence? HERE YOU GO! HERE IT IS!
Listen to the podcast as we discuss each of these steps a little more than I will do here but, notice the emphasis on PLAN and PURPOSE!
The need to close our minds TIGHTLY against the negative influences is a KEY POINT OF SURVIVAL to anyone that wishes to improve their lives - is it not? That's why I'm so glad you are taking the time to read this and follow along with the podcasts - YOU NEED THIS - WE ALL NEED THIS - I NEED THIS! Again, this is KEY!
I also read a quote that I found in Success magazine (by the way, this is an EXCELLENT magazine that I suggest you subscribe to...if not, check out their articles on-line at http://www.Success.com - you'll be glad you did!) that was from Donald Trump. Notice what he says...
"The number one key to being a successful entrepreneur or businessperson is, 'How do you respond to adversity?' When faced with a hardship, do you crumble and quit or do you stand up, take action and push through?"
Hey friend - only YOU can answer that question, but answer it you must!
Thanks for joining me today and, as always...
"Make it an AWESOME Day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"
