Project 141 SUMMATION: VISION (Track It and Stack It!)

"Where there is no VISION the people PERISH"  (Proverbs 29:18)

I've completed my articles on the expansion of "Project 141". If you've not done so, be sure to check it all out by going HERE and reading all of the previous articles as well as the podcasts and even some videos. The top half of what you find there is all about the initial information about my dream behind "Project 141" and the bottom half of that page/article is where you find all of the articles and podcasts on my expanded vision for "Project 141".

In a nutshell, the idea behind it is that you do ONE (1) thing every day to improve your life FOR (4) ONE (1) full year. BAM!

This is DIFFERENT than your typical New Year's Resolution in more ways than one but, for one, it requires an absolute COMMITMENT from you to do this for ONE FULL YEAR!

And, friend, the only way for that to happen is to have a VISION and to MAKE A PLAN so that you CAN follow your path to your vision. In other words, "Where there is no vision, the people perish". Put yet another way, IF YOU DON'T HAVE VISION YOU WILL FAIL. No ifs, ands or buts about it.

You also need to listen to the podcast on this topic by going HERE.

"Track it and Stack It!" What does THAT mean??? Follow me on this...

First of all, you must have a VISION of where it is that you are going. In this situation, we are talking about you dedicating yourself to do SOMETHING every day in these different areas (spiritual, personal development, health, relationships, community and wealth) for one full year.  If you don't know where you are going how will you know when/if you get there?

If you are taking a trip and going somewhere that you've never gone before, how can you know if you are on the right road or not if you don't have a plan (map/gps) to follow? How will you know that you are on the right "track" any other way?

Here's your answer: YOU CAN'T!

So it is imperative for you to TRACK your actions and your progress so that you CAN reach your goal and your vision and STACK your results in these areas. So, yeah, go ahead and visualize it as a big stack of money that represents your success in these areas. "TRACK IT AND STACK IT!"

So, talking about doing all of these things (Project 141) and deciding that, indeed, you WILL commit to do these things over the next full year is great, BUT, how will you go about developing the HABIT that is necessary to actually carry it through to the end?

As I've basically already said, you must TRACK your activity in order to make sure you are moving toward your VISION. Then, you get the joy of "stacking" your gained results that have taken place over that time period!

It takes DISCIPLINE to follow through with these things for the next year...every single day.

 SUGGESTED ACTION PLAN:

If you can develop a plan of action that "fits" you better, go for it! However, consider at least the concept/idea behind this suggested action plan and go from there. Remember - EVERY day!

I have listed 6 different areas of focus with this expanded use of Project 141 but you have come up with more for your situation. But I will be using 6 in this example.

You must get very SPECIFIC about your actions. This may be "difficult" (if you are not a very structured person) at first but, over time, you WILL develop the habit of doing these things without even having to think much about it. I will become something that you just simply "do" and that you "have" to do!

For example, take the first 3 areas (spiritual, personal development, health) and make a commitment that you will do SOMETHING in these areas before noon (for example). SET A TIME to make it specific and easier to measure. Then, decide that you will complete the last 3 areas (relationships, community and wealth) by 1 p.m.

Again, the order of events and the "time of completion" are flexible but, do pay attention to the fact that the later in the day that you put as "time of completion" the less likely you are to complete that task.

I suggest that you even break these time frames down even further. For example,  on the first 3 that you plan to accomplish no later than noon, set a specif "no later than" time for each of these. "I will do something to strengthen my spiritual life by 8 a.m." or "I'm going to do something (read something/listen to something) in the area of personal development by 10 a.m." and then, "I'm going to do something to improve my health no later than noon".

YES, IT IS IMPORTANT TO GET THAT SPECIFIC in order for you to develop a habit and to succeed!

Now, follow up at the end of the day - BE TRUTHFUL and HONEST - and check off as to whether you did or didn't accomplish that action. If you didn't complete your task, don't make excuses but maybe write down WHY you didn't. Again, BE HONEST and you likely will see how "weak" your "reason" for not accomplishing this task really was. On the other end, if you DID complete your task, check it off as such and also make a little note about how THAT makes you feel. "I feel really good that I disciplined myself to follow through and DO what I had planned!"

That's it! Be sure to record the date that you began taking this on so that you can gauge your improvement one year from this starting date.

I'd love to hear of your journey with "Project 141". I'd love to hear of your ups and downs and how YOU have made this your own...especially in the area of "COMMUNITY".

YOU GOT THIS!

Until next time, remember, YOU'RE HERE FOR A REASON and, whatever you do, always be sure to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

Do It Now For Later

That's good advice no matter how you slice it. Wouldn't you agree?

Maybe it's a bit confusing and you're not exactly sure what is meant by this statement and maybe you don't even agree with the philosophy behind it.

Most people don't understand it or get it and, even if they do, they don't agree with it and what it means for their lives.

Many - if not most - people live in the NOW.

They have no focus, care or concern for the future and what their future could involve. Oh, you may hear them SAY that they are concerned for their future and that they are trying to plan for their future but what you hear are just words.

As a matter of fact, when most people say that they are "concerned" for their future it usually means they have no idea what they are going to do because they have nothing in place to take care of their future.

A few years ago I heard a father on a television "reality" show give a pretty good answer to his son who was wanting to watch television and play video games before he got his homework done. The father's answer went something like this: "Son, you do what you HAVE to do so that you can then do what you WANT to do."

Same idea as you see in the graphic above.

Work hard NOW so that you can take it easy later.

Do what it takes NOW so that you can have the life you desire later.

Build relationships with your family and your kids NOW so that they will be by your side later. (And, by the way this is not a contradiction of the sentence two paragraphs up. This does not have to be an "either/or" proposition).

If necessary, scrimp NOW - live frugally now - so that you can live like most others won't and can't later.

Sure, enjoy your life today. It IS all that we have. But, honestly, only a fool would live their life without focus and a plan for their future.

Want it made very simple? Ask any athlete - yes, even Jr. High and High School  - about how they feel about the "two-a-day" football practices that start in the summer before school even begins.

They may not like it but they get it.

And so should you, friend.

So, as you live today with a view of tomorrow in sight, be sure to...

Update: I DO Plan To...

Just a quick update: I DO still plan to do the video an audio addition to my current "series" that I am doing on PLANS and things that can HOLD US BACK.

Isn't that ironic?

I planned to do it right after I completed my last blog article (which was about 3 weeks ago). I also planned to get it done about a week ago while I had several days off.

But, as you can see, I've still yet to complete those. My plans? I still plan to get that accomplished THIS WEEK - hopefully over the next day or two.

So, here's something to think about when considering the thought brought up in the last article of "WHAT'S HOLDING YOU BACK?".... do we sometimes consider ourselves "busy" or "too busy" to do what it is we SAY we want to accomplish?

Hmmmm....interesting.

Stay with me? Thanks!

Until next time, be sure to...

Just Go Out and DO IT!

"Just Go Out and DO IT!"

I'm not going to spend a lot of time with today's blog entry - listen to the podcast for a more "in-depth" discussion on today's topic.

Simply put - stop talking about doing it, stop continuously planning on doing it, stop wishing you were doing it, stop just dreaming about doing it, stop telling everyone around you that you're going to do it ----- JUST GO OUT AND DO IT!

Again, YES, we have to make plans and chart our course for our goals. But remember, sooner or later we have to climb in the automobile, start it up and DRIVE that baby!

Usually it is FEAR that keeps us from taking that first step. And, usually, that fear is the fear of the unknown! "What if I fail? What if I mess up? What if I make mistakes?"

To be truthful, the answer to questions 2 and 3 are simply - "YOU WILL!" But, thank goodness we can come to realize that this does NOT make you a failure!

No one travels this road perfectly! No one launches out toward their dreams without ever making a mistake or messing up. We all do! Everyone has and continues to do so!

The key thing is to LEARN from your mistakes and mess ups! That will serve us in a far greater way (LIFE EXPERIENCE ALONG THE WAY) than any book or planning will or can ever do!

So, my friend, as we near the end of another month - JUST GO OUT AND DO IT!

You know you can, right? Sure you do!

And, all along the way, be sure to...

"Make it an AWESOME day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"

"Wide Open Wednesday" -- Organized Planning

First of all, I refer to today as "WIDE-OPEN WEDNESDAY" (usually called, "Wonderful Wednesday" which, it still is). Why? Because the day - regardless of what day you listen to the podcast or which day you read this blog - is WIDE OPEN for you! It's YOUR choice! Yes, you DO have choices that will greatly influence the direction of your day as well as YOUR ATTITUDE in the course of this day.

What will YOU do?

Today's podcast focuses on the chapter entitled, "Organized Planning" in Napoleon Hill's classic book, "Think & Grow Rich".

You have heard and/or read the following many times - "To fail to plan is to plan to fail!"

How true that is!

In this chapter, Mr. Hill really emphasizes the need to make adequate plans as we pursue our"riches" (whatever they may be). If you suffer a "temporary defeat" - DON'T QUIT, DON'T GIVE UP! This "temporary defeat" simply means that your plan was flawed and that you need to revisit your plans and see what needs to be corrected.

However, what do we usually do? WE QUIT as the first sign of difficulty or perceived failure! How many times have YOU done that? How many times have you given up on an idea because you thought you put the adequate planning and effort into it and it failed anyway? Even the best laid out plans may fail!

That's why it is also so important to develop your "Mastermind Group" as is discussed briefly in this chapter (he devotes a complete chapter to this later on the book). Others may be able to help you look at your plan(s) differently from a different perspective and offer solid advice.

"Your achievement can be no greater than your plans are sound." What a great - and true - quote this is from this chapter!

Once again, what are you willing to do in order to achieve your goals? ("What Are Your Dreams Worth?" is the title of an early podcast that I did in March). As we look to successful people, we too often assume that they achieved what they have easily or we just simply focus on their triumphs. Do we understand and realize how many "temporary defeats" they have gone through to get where they are? Some of these people have gone through MAJOR setbacks, but got back up and went at it again, REFUSING TO GIVE UP AND/OR GIVE IN!

Will you? Will I? Will we?

This - in my opinion - is where many of us fail. Less than adequate plans and then giving up when those plans do not work the way we wanted them to.

I know that I am learning from this book - and specifically this chapter - in my quest toward my goals. In Thursday's podcast we will continue our discussion on this chapter.

As always, I welcome any and all comments about this blog, my podcasts or anything you'd like to share - just shoot me an e-mail at: mike@futureyouuniversity.com

"Making the Move" (Part 3) - TERRIFIC TUESDAY!

(yes, this was posted before I went to bed on Monday night)

Today is "Terrific Tuesday"...why? "As long as there is breath, there is hope!"

Also, this is the first Tuesday podcast that I have done and I am so excited and pumped about this series I am doing right now. I think it can be invaluable to YOU either right now or for your future. Feel free to send me any feedback and thoughts that you may have on this topic. Is it hitting home? Striking a chord? Bringing up some other questions that you'd like to have discussed? Please send them to me at: mike@futureyouuniversity.com

As part of the continued discussion on this topic of "Making the Move" I share a letter from a listener that talked about his struggle in this area as well as his FEAR of failure. This will be the basis of our discussion in Wednesday's podcast (part 4) - so be sure to join me.

However, I shared some very specific things that I thought this listener should be asking himself as he considered making his move (his words were, "It's TIME!") and I mentioned on the podcast that I'd put them here to make it easier for you to write down.

Either write these down on another piece of paper or copy this off on your computer but give yourself space to answer these as specifically as possible. This is a time to be honest with yourself - NO FLUFF! Be real! Don't kid yourself here - this is the time for honesty!!!

So, here they are - again, be as specific as you can in your answers and feel free to share any input or discoveries that you may have while going through this process.

1. What preparations - if any - have I made to make this move?
a. do I understand that there very likely will be some "slow time" financially and have I made proper preparations (both physically AND mentally) for that fact? (physically refers to financially, too)
2. Have I prepared myself (mostly mentally) for those close to me that will likely question and criticize this move?
3. What happens if I DON'T make this move? (the old "pros and cons" scenario)
4. What happens if I DO make this move?
5. What happens if I make this move but I WAIT a little longer?

Only you can answer those questions and you likely know the answers without much hesitation.

Don't forget to join me for tomorrow's continued discussion entitled: "Barriers to Making the Move".

And remember....

Monday's Podcast: "Making the Move (Part 2)"

Greetings friends! Another "Magical Monday" is upon us and.....as I announced last week we begin a new phase with my "Future You University" podcasts by going to FIVE DAYS A WEEK!

Today I continue my discussion based on the interview that I had with Angie Strader during last Monday's podcast ("Making the Move") in which she shared information about the planning and preparation that went into Angie making her move. In this podcast I point out some specific things that Angie mentioned that are very important for ANYONE to consider in making their move!

This will be the "theme" for the week and I really invite you to do a few things this week:
1. Go back and listen to the interview in last Monday's podcast
2. Listen to today's podcast - TAKE NOTES ON ALL OF THE PODCASTS in this theme
3. Be sure to listen to the podcasts on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and, again, take notes on what is discussed. (I believe these will be invaluable to you sometime in your future!)
4. SPREAD THE VIRUS! What do I mean? Like a virus, spread the power of these podcasts by sharing them with a friend and encouraging them to do the same and on and on and on allowing this information to spread!

I need your help in this! I know that and I appreciate you in this effort. HOWEVER, I also want to encourage you to stop sitting idly by and to start SHARING this information IF you feel it is important in the lives of those around you.

Thing is - I KNOW the answer to that already. I KNOW that it is important and needed today like never before.

Thanks in advance for your help and ENJOY today's podcast! As always you can leave comments right here or you can shoot me an e-mail (mike@futureyouuniversity.com).

Don't forget, you can now follow me on Twitter! (http://www.Twitter.com/mikespillman)

Awesome! And, yeah, "Make it an AWESOME Day! (Who else is going to do it for you?)"
