That "Aha!" Moment

Yeah, you know what I'm talking about, right? One of those "aha!" moments when something FINALLY becomes clear.


I love working with young people and I've said for many years that I love it when you see that "light bulb" go off in their heads - when they GET IT!

I had one of those today while watching the 2nd video in the Empower Network Blog Beast Launch series. *Click* "Aha!"


Now, first of all, that video is HILARIOUS but it was also VERY informative for me as I'm sure it was for the many others that have seen it.  (If you haven't seen it, just go here).


I learned about all of the features of the new blog platform! I have struggle the past couple of days while composing my blogs here because I couldn't quite figure out where everything was that I needed to use.  Too, to be honest, although I have spent years doing things ON the computer there are still a lot of things I don't understand ABOUT the computer!


But the thing is, all of this stuff that I haven't understood and, to a large extent, still don't, I DON'T HAVE TO KNOW OR UNDERSTAND! It's just done for me.


How's THAT for awesome?


Bottom line, you just need to watch the video to see what I'm talking about. I think you'll be pretty impressed as was I.

"Pep Talk in Every Drop"

It’s amazing what positive things you find around you if you just take the time to look.

 

Case in point: My wife has had a nasty little cough for the past several days and today – after going through SEVERAL of these cough drops over the past few days – she noticed that inside the wrappers of these cough drops were little sayings. As a matter of fact they were labeled as “Pep Talk in Every Drop”!

 

Pretty awesome, right?

 

So, in one little wrapper were three little sayings with a positive message. Let’s take a quick look at each one, shall we? O.k. we shall (thanks for your permission!).

 

Two of them go hand in hand as you will see: “Push On” and “Power Through”.

 

That really goes “hand in hand” with my short, but to the point, blog from yesterday about life slapping you down. IF YOU WAN TO SUCCEED IN ANYTHING IN LIFE THEN YOU MUST BE ABLE TO “PUSH ON” AND “POWER THROUGH”!

 

 

And then the other one is my favorite of the three: “Take Charge and Mean It!”

 

Quit talking about “taking charge” and “making changes” and DO something about it like you MEAN it! (Yeah, I’m talking to myself too, o.k.?).

 

I mean – hey – isn’t it time?

The "Cash Man"

I don’t know what else to call him but it’s the “guy” on those commercials on T.V. that, while either driving a boat or riding a motorcycle, has money all over him that blows off behind him. HEY, LET ME FOLLOW THAT GUY! Right?

Hey, Mike – wake up from dreamland there buddy – no such thing actually exists! O.k., so money doesn’t REALLY grow on trees nor does it fly off some “cash man” for those behind him to pick up and put in their pockets. I get it.

So, what’s the other choice? Good news: there doesn’t have to be just ONE other choice!

One of the other choice that the majority of people in our world take is that of getting a job, being told how much you will be paid (as long as you show up), when you can or can’t go to the bathroom, when you can or can’t be sick and – if and when you have been there long enough – when you can or can’t take some time off for vacation!

Many are disgruntled and dissatisfied with this choice or option but don’t know what else to do with their plight.

Good news! There IS another option! What is it? WORK FOR YOURSELF!

“Hold on there, Cowboy! That sounds good on the surface but I don’t know ANYTHING about running a business!”

BETTER NEWS! You don’t have to when there is a system put in place that literally can and will take you from point A to point B to get it done correctly so that you can have SUCCESS working for yourself.

Believe in Yourself...and Others

What you see in the picture above is the upper right hand corner of my white board. I'm not really sure how long that's been on there but I'm going to estimate that it's been there for at least two years!

Those of you that follow this blog and my podcasts, etc. (www.FutureYouUniversity.com) may remember when I shared my thoughts about where this phrase came from but, for those of you that are fairly new or need a refresher on it, let me do a quick recap for you.

A couple of years ago as I was out on my motorcycle enjoying a ride I came across three different signs (one in front of a church, one in front of a school and another in front of some other building)  with the following phrase positioned on it: "BELIEVE IN YOURSELF". Now, I don't know about you but when I see something with the EXACT same message on it three times in the matter of maybe an hour - I PAY ATTENTION!

I remember thinking, "Awesome! I need to believe in myself more because I already do!" Then, about two miles from home I saw the ending of a message scrolling across of a sign in front of an insurance company. I have no idea what the first part said but the part I saw simply read, "...and yourself." I remember specifically thinking, "Wow, the missing piece to the puzzle!"

You see, you MUST believe in yourself and act on that belief NO MATTER WHAT others around you may try to do to derail you from your goals and dreams (and you know that they will!). Never, ever stop working on this important piece of the puzzle to your success. "Your greatest education takes place on the campus of your mind." That's not just a cute little phrase I came up with back in 2009. It's a FACT and one that we must ALWAYS work on - our mindset and what we allow INTO our minds and lives! I could write a LOT more about this but I'm going to move on from this part to finish up with the other, important part of this phrase - "...and others".

I am a skeptical person. For one, it is the way I was raised. My dad was one that always questioned anything and everything and, though it taught me to be careful in my dealings with others, I do believe it also instilled in me a lack of trust in others. You know what I mean, right? "They're out to get there's and I had better put my hand on my wallet so that they don't take advantage of me!"

I've had a hard time overcoming this and I wish I could tell you that I was past that - but I'm not. I STILL am a very skeptical person but the fact remains that if you wish to REACH the success that you DESIRE then you WILL have to not only believe in yourself but you will also have to believe in and TRUST other people - especially those that you choose to follow.

So, going back to our last few podcasts and videos that I shared on leadership - do you think it's important WHO you follow and WHO you trust?

YOU BET IT IS!

As I shared in the lesson entitled, "Been There, Done That", it is important to find someone to follow, believe in and TRUST that has a proven track record and then, my friend, we must allow ourselves to actually TRUST those people.

Oh, don't follow blindly, but you have to learn to trust (lesson to myself!) if you plan to move forward in your life.

No matter how hard some may try, no matter what obstacles and/or roadblocks are put up to make it a little more difficult to get the information out there about “THE BEAST” the fact is simply this:

 

THE BEAST CANNOT BE STOPPED!

 

Now, here’s the next thing to ask yourself – “Will YOU be stopped?”

Most of us found out last night after the “Hang Out” about the next few days leading up to the release of ENV2 that some very popular “social sites” (you know, the ones that you might have a BOOK written about your FACE) have blocked anything and everything to do with this company and any links, etc. that would lead others to this valuable information. But remember…

 

THE BEAST CANNOT BE STOPPED!

 

Have FUN finding creative ways around this obstacle and many others that will come your way due to your DESIRE to improve your life and the lives of others around you!

Be Thankful and Say So

Today I am thankful! It’s a beautiful day, I’m alive and I have so much HOPE and PROMISE for my future. So, yeah, why WOULDN’T I be thankful?

Here’s one important thing about being thankful…express it and express it out loud.
There is just something about EXPRESSING  your thankfulness that impacts you at a whole different level than just thinking it. Think about this as well, if you express your thanks out loud around someone else it also serves as a reminder to them that they, too, have something for which to be thankful and it also may very well lift them up in encouragement.

Good or Bad - It's Contagious!

Attitude.

 

Good or bad, it’s contagious!

 

And, just like some deadly disease, you need to RUN and PROTECT YOURSELF and those you love from the impact of a negative or bad attitude. As a matter of fact, friend, I’d say it actually IS a “deadly disease”. It attacks mind, body and soul and can leave a once vibrant person lifeless and weak.

 

Am I overstating this? NO WAY!

 

When one truly understands the devastating impact of a negative attitude and a negative environment then they will do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to get as far away as possible from this plague of mankind.

 

Now, enough of that, let’s turn our focus to the GOOD SIDE of a POSITIVE mindset and attitude being something that you WANT to “catch”! Yes, you still need to RUN but, instead of running away from a BAD attitude, you should RUN TO any environment, group of people or person that personifies this positive attitude.

 

That’s why reading and listening to positive information is so vital to your survival if you desire to have this positive/good attitude yourself. IT’S FOOD FOR THE MIND, SOUL AND BODY!

 

So, let’s close and take a look at this. Not only is it important to surround yourself with positivity but it is also important to make sure YOU are SPREADING the strength that comes from this. In other words, WHAT ARE PEOPLE “CATCHING” FROM YOU?

 

Join me on my “positive mission”, won’t you?

 

Just as it is true with our physical intake with food, so it is with a positive or negative attitude and mindset: YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT.

Excited People Make Others Nervous!

Have you noticed that? People get nervous when you get excited! Now imagine when you get SEVERAL excited people together – OTHER PEOPLE FREAK OUT!
 

Why? Because, most of the time, they don’t know what it is to be excited about anything and think that you must be “on” something or just plain NUTZ! It’s really rather funny (and yeah, I know I misspelled “nutz”) when you think about it.
 

So, they don’t know – or remember  – what it is to get excited and ALSO they have nothing to get excited about and don’t trust others that do. What? Let me explain.
 

We’ve all heard the idea that people are afraid of what they don’t understand or that people are afraid of the unknown. Many times, these people have lost their ABILITY to become excited about ANYTHING in life and when they see others get excited about something they are afraid because they just CANNOT understand what there is to get excited about! And, on top of that, since they can’t seem to get excited about anything they are DOUBLY AFRAID because that kind of excitement and enthusiasm is unknown – FOREIGN – to their very thought process.
 

You see them every day. And they see you!
 

Maybe this describes you. Perhaps you are wary of ANYONE that gets excited about ANYTHING. Friend, it’s time for you to recapture the excitement of your youth when you got excited over just about everything!
 

You see, there are some things WORTH getting excited about and there are some things that you just CAN’T HELP but get excited about!
 

Let go – let loose – GET EXCITED once again.
